So, I 1001skins.com | I have been silent over the course of some time as I put up the website for sale;

I had some interesting, reasonable and awesome offers...however, at I could not in good faith give it up. Although, I have felt the constant pressure of hackers and etc; I believe in the mission of the website. To provide designs to winamp and other applications without all the fuss.

I have decided to migrate the entire site once more to a CMS/blogging platform. I have been working on this over the past month and am nearly complete in my final touches.

I wanted to provide this forum with a first glimpse of what the site will look like and give you all an idea of what to expect as well the changes.

At present, we still do not have a featured skins/etc as all ratings have been dumped; and I still haven't put together a download page for winamp, plugins, etc. ( I will )

Anyway...the temporary home:

Rest assured if you register etc for the site; then your reg will remain in tact once I replace the homesite with this new site.

Looks gorgeous! What I find a bit distracting is the background image that does not move with the rest of the page while scrolling down. You want to focus on the content but the unmoving background steals focus tiring the eye.

Wow! I'm so glad you decided to go this way, really looks good for the time being. I can tell there's still work to do, though the static bg doesn't bother me I guess it's temporary since a box is missing, to separate the text from the background.
Anyway, I hope things are easier for your under WP, the previous version of the site was good as repository but quite limited itself by no achieving 100% effective ways to update and upload skins. I have no problems on updating my previews, looks like new preview images will be needed, right?

Preview images can be updated by each member. I have like 7440 images for skins to work with at the moment. I have opted for a simple display of each of them in a post. I haven't yet, settled in on a 'theme' for wordpress to use on 1001skins.com.

Each author that has a valid email will be able to retrieve their account and if they so choose update their posts (skins) in any way they feel necessary (including previews of their skins).

Ratings are dynamic and are hosted by a 3rd party. The site is pretty much self maintainable with wordpress. I will still keep the API access for external applications, websites and etc. so that they may access the websites resources (skins, and etc).

Heh I was testing the new edit / submit system, works great for now, maybe TOO powerful for Joe's own benefit. But there are very few skinners to be too worried about it.. right?

System is setup with roles

Each Role has a finite and limited access restriction to do specific things.

Contributor - Can edit posts, create posts, and now are limited to their own media in the media library.

There are quite a few other roles: Admin, Author, Subscriber, Skinner, Moderator, SEO Author, SEO Contributor, Designer, Coder, Template Manager, and etc.

Each has finely tuned permissions that allow them to do only a certain few things or alot of things depending on how I wanted to 'provide' access.
