Behold, my first real skin. Suggestions needed.

Imo its pretty good, but i think the lcd needs a bit of work

Ok, this skin needs a ton of work... And I mean graphically, and funtionality wise.
-way too bright
-work on your insets
-never use make a highlight cyan
-work on your LCDs
-loose the grid
-learn the difference between metal, and plastic.
-learn how to blend shapes
-where will the cbuttons go?

... I could go on. Work on those things. Use tutorials from different sites to help you with your graphic skills. Then let's see how we're doing.

i think it looks good. i think you should keep the grid. also, why does something have to be metal or plastic. it's not real. it can be whatever it is. the inset does need some work.

It seems like this will be good practice for you. While working on this you might want to start coming up with some interesting shapes or ideas that havent been done before like a metal oval.

Another thing: I've seen this kind of skin concept WAAAAY too much.
I've grown weary of seeing LCD's on metal.

Personally I think the best advice for anybody making their first skin is to make it for themselves. Don't listen to anyone and only ask questions if you need help creating something that you have in mind but can't do it on your own.

If you try to skin for other people and take in everyone's suggestions then you'll end up going no where with your skin cause you'll get in over your head.

That's been my experience at least. You don't even have to release your first skin, but use it as a learning experience, then with your second one you can design something that you think a lot of people might enjoy.

That's just my two cents of course.

As for your skin I like the design. It does look a little tight on space, but once you start filling in buttons and things you can go back and start filling out the background a little, changing stuff around, to accomodate your needs. I really like that black stroke inset you have around the LCD, it's a bit un-realistic, but it has style, and still looks nice.

Stick with it.

its lookin good mate. i agree with everyone that has posted. what u might find that i did with my skin is if u can't fit everything in u might have to re design the background. i did it and its made my skin heaps better. otherwise it looks good for a first skin

I liked more the first LCD shape.
Try to keep the shape as it's in 1st and add the effects of 2nd

alrighty can do, i added cut off the sides to leave room for buttons, but i think i know where to put them.
