  • ML buttons' text is out of proportions in 5.666 and 5.8

    Hi,

I just installed 5.666 (and later 5.8) and saw this weird issue. Note the three ugly squares in the top left corner in "2.png". They are bloated to fit the area they are in. And the area is bloated because of the Clear Search button text. In happens both in Win 8.1 and Win 10 on different PCs and with various skins. I thought maybe the problem is in the previous install (5.541) so I cleaned it out before installing 5.666/5.8. The buttons get to the normal size only when I decrease the playlist font size to about 6, but that makes the playlist font unintelligible. So what's going on here?

You have misunderstood me. I installed 5.666 and had this problem. Then I installed 5.8 and had this problem too. Then I did a clean install of 5.666 and had this problem, then I did a clean install of 5.8 and had this problem. All of this I did on two PCs, one with Win 8.1, the other Win 10.

No, it's a fresh installation. 5.541 works fine though, even installed over 5.666.

Can it by any chance be a new feature of 5.666? But then why just the ML buttons' text, but not the playlist buttons' (see the picture)?

It happens when the size of text, apps and other items is set higher than 100% in Windows Display Settings.

Indeed! Was it introduced as a feature in 5.666? Why then just the media library? Or is it a bug? But I'd expect many people have modern HD displays and so have adjusted the scale to over 100%. So I'd expect many complaints about this issue. But it doesn't seem to be the case. Weird, huh?
Finally, is there a way to fix this by fiddling with the skin or something?

No, it is a Windows feature.

Only in the sense that the developers of Winamp did not foresee a future in which Windows will tamper with old applications' display size.

Not with the skin. With Winamp. But its owners no longer care about Winamp.

However, there is WACUP, the Winamp Community Update Project, patching the last stable version of Winamp (not the beta available at Winamp.com). This bug is one of the many fixed in WACUP.
