Nah... Pc just doing fine for a... Waoo.. Near 12 years old machine.
The best part... Besides phtshop I was having issue ibtalling open shell classic menu, a github open source start menu replacement for that I don't know who came with this ugly unproductive, unuseful thing in W10. This open shell, I was using it in my last W10...
    Anyway...

On the 4th windows installation, I launch the installation and get, instead of no result at all, no opening, no nothing at all of the 3 previous tryouts, I get a "this software has/is a virus... blah blah".
Turn off that piece of %£/!"à defender, relaunch the app and it starts and install.
    Phtshop did well too.

So... I think that burkisoft is plaguing people as I did the install without being connected to the internet. Whatever was downloaded during installation, drivers or I don't know what was obviously interfering.
I'm on this since 2 days, I'm fed up at the moment, sad & crying on my birthday, i'm off to some bad news and disturbing France prospective on youtube.

I'll have to look at it !
I'll be away for a few days as my windows 10 became so sluggish that I had to wait 10, 15s for a photoshop action to take place or near that time for the xml editor to laucn and open 4 files.
I did a fresh factory reset to be facing with an 0xc0000005 error when trying to install the photoshop I was using a few days ago...
The better being this OS so... whatever, version number after version number.

I stepped from a fullly working W7 unable to provide dark mode and some blinding black text/white backgrounds even using stardock's windowblinds, to W10's dark mode showing parts of the UI in the same black on white even with the same windowblinds.
I tried W11 to find that the same UI parts are STILL not dark moded.

Gates should have been kicking butts at microsoft rather than shitting people with it's GAVI/OMS/Epstein business...

Now there are two skins in my how folder to show how you can switch between seven different layouts: an updated version of Study Layouts and a completely new Sevenovem.

In Study Layouts, two layouts have windowholders for visualization. The background images of layouts with windowholders can only have fully opaque and fully transparent pixels, no gradual transitions between the two extremes. Layouts with windowholders may also have issues with some window shapes. The Study Layouts skin offers two workarounds for having a windowholder in a layout with an irregularly shaped window background:
    • player-compact-vis.xml uses an extra layer behind the windowholder
    • player-compact-vis-regions.xml uses regions
In Sevenovem, what looks like a main window with embedded visualization is in fact separate windows. The visualization window is fit into a transparent rectangle of the player window. Since the player and the visualization window are two different windows, the visualization window has no effect on the player background, which can have all possible alpha values.

I just ran a scan on old modern skins and found two with "unlinked" tag in the layout sections:

Here is the link again: Study_Layouts.zip

And here is switchleftclick.zip for your 7 layouts. It will only work if the id's in your xml files are the same as those between quotation marks in the System.onScriptLoaded() function.

it works ! (you're the man they says).

Do you mind sharing the updated switch layouts as I don't have any player-compact-regions.png in the png folder.

And watch the compactviz layout in action

Allows the layout to be positioned independently of the normal layout.

I am puzzled at it, too. It is not in the Winamp 3 default skin, and Classic skins do not have such attributes.

    And this tag does what?

    I was wondering because
    • I have never seen it before
    • it is not in the official <layout/> section

    That's what I thought so I've made 7 layouts.
One disturbing outcome is that each layout/mode opensat the same x,y coordinates.
I thought that everyone of them would act like component windows, saving their own screen position : stick mode being larger than the others is either out of screen for some part or I have to not place the others near the screen right border.

No, it isn't. The right way for you is to define 7 different layouts.

Yes. Make the transparent areas opaque for the layouts with visualization and let Winamp cut out the transparent regions with the trimmer. The trimmer should be an indexed png with only fully opaque black pixels and fully transparent transparent pixels. No gradual transitions between the two extremes.

The pictures below show the alpha background for the compact layout (1), the opaque background for the compact viz layout (2), and the trimmer for the compact viz layout (3) from my Study Layouts skin:
