Monkey not working

Whenever I try to run Monkey it says "ERROR: The plug-in is already running." I've tried re-installing, as well as installing v1.01 and it still does this. It has also crashed winamp several times and gave me messages saying "Plug-in executed illegal operation. Restart of winamp is recommended."

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Running winamp 2.76 and I have DirectX8

total uninstall of winamp (plugins and all), then install 2.81, and the plugin.

I had to do that to get Monkey to work. Bananas simply weren't enough...
