  • Re: Crazy main window

    [...]

    [Edit --> DJ Egg]

Assuming this isn't caused by one of your non-supported 3rd-party plugins, I do believe this to be the same known bug as reported by ampewin 3 posts up...

    [/Edit]
    [/B]
I know. I thought it would make a difference cause for me, the bug came up without that I did anything with "detach vis/video". I just resized it and then back again...

    • Fresh install of W503.
      1)
Winamp link, on the desktop, has a "Shortcut key".
Now, i start playing video in full screen mode. Then, with the alt+tab key,i switch to the other window(no matter which one). And now i press the "Shortcut key" to run Winamp.
And now i can see the full screen video window, with the playing video, and another one video window on the foreground of the full-screen window, with nothing playing into it.

2)There is a video file compressed with the elecard video codec.
If i try to play this video file without elecard codec installed in the system winamp crashes.

      WinXP, Athlon 1600+

        Simple method of reproduction:
        Modern skin
        Detach Video and vis
        Open config drawer
        Stretch main window out horizontally

The Bug: When I try to open shortcuts to folders in 5.02's open file dialog box, it tries to open the shortcut file itself, instead of taking me to the target folder.

I'm using the full 5.02 install, but installed over my 2.9 folder (so it's possible there's some residual stuff left over).

          Relevant system specs:

          DirectX 9

Please let me know if there's anything that I'm missing.

Just FYI, I'm still having this problem with 5.03. Thanks.

          • Sorry for the slight double post.

In the media library under local media/artists; If click all artists and click an album....if you have an album listed as a character (such as !!! or ? or & etc) when you want winamp to find that album, it instead lists all songs with no album associated with them.

            • WA 5.03 clean install, WinXP SP1.

Long WMA files (over 7 mins approx) have their playing times misreported. The files still play in their entirety, but the counter and progress bar both stop after reaching the misreported time. After some testing, I have found that the maximum correct length reported is 7:09. After that, the playing time resets and starts counting from zero again. So a song of length 8:09 shows as only being 1:00 long.

Files shorter than 7:09 are unaffected. This problem did not exist in 5.01 or 5.02.

              [Edit --> DJ Egg]

              Confirmed & Reproduced. Thanks.
Note: New experimental in_wm.dll with WMA9 support

              • Docking bug found... when you use the new dock feature in winamp 5.03 to the bottom and then click "Show Desktop" in windows the docked player disappears... with other windows like Playlist etc it does still show them This has been confirmed

                http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=174895

"Probably a bug. I just tried it for the hell of it, even though by the sound of it it seems to be a bug. I docked the PL editor, and hit Show Desktop twice. The Winamp Main and ML windows showed up, as normal, but the docked playlist didn't. I hit the PL button twice, and it re-appeared.

                Most likely a bug."

                my specs:
                Windows XP sp1
                512MB DDR
                ATI Radeon 9600pr

                Logitech Cordless Keyboard (iTouch 2.20.243)

                • Hi.

I tested some old MOD sounds with 5.02 and 5.03 and found that the sound output of these files has very degraded in 5.03. (After I reinstalled 5.02 the output was in the old good state.) What happend to the MOD output in 5.03?

                  • bug in "toggle playlist/song repeat" in winshade mode,by clicking the repeat button 2 times it's on song repeat mode but it doesn't repeat , it works only in normal mode .
                    my specs :
                    intel 2.4 GHZ
                    512 DDRAM

                    [Edit --> DJ Egg]

                    Well spotted. Confirmed & reproduced.
Hmm, if it's already on 'repeat one' in normal mode,
when I go to winshade mode,
(though 'repeat one' does work this way round),
I'm getting a small pink square where the repeat button should be...

Hmm. Getting reports back from the beta list
of people not being able to reproduce this.
Weird. Gonna try a clean install...

                    Anyone else?

then open the playlist to normal mode, I can right click on my mouse as often I want. The context menu is not showing up. Only if I restart winamp it will work again.

                      Anyone having this problem too?
Or is it not Winamp related?

                      I used Winamp 5.0.2 & 5.0.3 with both I have those Problems.

Sry to post my problem again but this is driving me crazy. When I can't find a slution in the near future I'm going to reinstall my system and hope after it is done it will work properly again.

No, can't reproduce, not happening here.
Remove 3rd-party plugins, try a clean install.
If problem persists, post in tech support,
                      and include a StartUpList log.

                      • Modern Skin Bug?

                        OS [Windows 2000 Professional, Service Pack 4 (5.0 - 2195)]
                        Mobo [MSI KT3 Ultra]
                        CPU [1-AMD XP, 1533MHz, 256KB (14% Load)]

                        gfx[NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4800 SE]
                        Driect X 9
                        Winamp 5.03a

                        1. Open winamp with the modern skin
                        2. Drop down the config
                        3. Change the main window size

Then a big gap apears bewteen the title bar/menu and the rest of the skin (see pic). Then if you close winamp and re-open it, the video/avs window will be open. This even happens when said windows are detached from the skin, with even worse results.

                        • Non-ascii problem

Media Library refused to import some of my MP3s with kanji/katakana/hiragana characters for file names, even after I put them in the desgnated directory(s). Rescan Media Folders simply won't import them into database. I have to remove the japanese characters (by renaming them) to be able to import them. Playing the files in the playlists is fine though.

                          Winamp 5.03 PRO

This may be related, while in winshade mode, pressing Shift+R (repeat track) causes a the pink square graphical bug you mention on the repeat button (as seen as bug 1 in the attachment)

also, behaviors of pressing shift+r in each button mode are as follows:
                            • no repeat -> nothing happens(is this normal? shouldn't it go directly to repeat track?)
                              While in winshade:
                            • repeat all -> pink square
                            • repeat track -> pink square
Another oddity I found is if you are in repeat track in the main window, then switch to winshade, the repeat button shows up as repeat all colored as the background and is unpressable(bug 2 in the attachment) I assume what is happening is the button dissapears leaving the skin background

                            • small bug, but sux.

                              winamp 5.03 clean install

                              win98/win2k, two different computers...

winamp is allowing multiple instances from sortcut or play option in explorer context menu, in this case winamp5 will play several musics or videos at same time, even the option is unchecked at preferences.

                              to reproduce:
                              1 - make a clean install

2 - use "ctrl+P" to access 'General Preferences' dialog and verify if the box "Allow Multiple Instances" is unchecked - if is, uncheck-it

3 - try to load multiples instances of winamp

                              - or -

3 - load several files from windows explorer

                              - The resolution is simple, just enable the option to allow multiple instances and click 'ok' to close the dialog, restart winamp5, use 'Ctrl+P' and disable again the option, hit 'ok' to close the window and restart winamp5(again)

note: without restart winamp5 will not affect the changes , at least not with me.

but every time that is required to make a clean install of winamp5, this steps are needed to be followed again..

                              • ehh not sure if youd consider this a bug, with the modern skin or the docking feature, not sure if its been posted yet. Or if its just how its supposed to work, but when you have the shade mode docked on the bottom of the screen, then attach the playlist to it, then put the playlist in shade mode, the player gets docked couple inches obove the bottom. i can see why it does this but i just thought id mention it.
