  • CD Audio pause

Something that bugs me, when I use WinAMP to play audio CD's, there's always a pause when it switches to the next track. I assume this is because WinAMP is telling the CD-ROM which track to play next. Can this be bypassed when the playlist is in the same order as the CD, and Shuffle is turned off?

    Thanks

    Install the Cr-reader plug-in ( http://www.url****~copah ) then use the SQR advanced Crossfading plugin ( http://sqrsoft.audiogalaxy.com )

I've tried using the CD-reader you mention, but as soon as I installed it, Winamp began crashing regularly (every 5-10 minutes or so). I had to reinstall Winamp to stabilize it. So I cannot recommend the plugin solution.

I'd like to know why I don't have the option to disable this built-in to Winamp in the first place. Who decided that this automatic pause was a good thing, good enough to be MANDATORY, even when playing CDs where one song blends into the next and the pause is incredibly annoying?

This is due to the way Winamp handles CD-input. The wave-out plug-in is closed after each track and then has to reopen hence the pause. This is fixed in Winamp 3 (normally).

          Twilightseer,

Thanks for your response. Any idea why they chose to do it this way?

Also, any chance of a fix in the 2.x version of Winamp? Apparently Winamp 3 isn't available yet and my guess is that it won't be available for a while yet... I hate having to resort to using Windows CD Player and I absolutely, positively will NOT have Sonique on my computer!

I love Winamp, but unfortunately this problem makes it unsuitable for playing audio CDs on my system...
