  • BUG? songticker / playlist, errant / incongruent with history after crash

    5.63, win7

computer crashed while winamp was open, rebooted, reopened winamp, clicked the history, saw this:

so, maybe not a bug, BUT the history log is right, the pretenders were playing last. for some reason, the songticker and playlist refer to things that were playing earlier.

i assume this has something to do with the history fix, which is why the history is right. that fix apparently did not extend to the songticker and playlist.

not a big deal, just wanted to document it.

the history fix was purely for saving the history db data, it has no bearing on restoring the position or selection in the playlist editor (i assume that's what you mean as the image doesn't actually do anything to help unless i'm not just not awake enough).

ha, well, i'm not sure what you mean...

but what i am saying is that whats in the songticker, and the playlist, is older than whats in the history. the history is correct, but when restarted, the songticker and playlist reverted to something about 10 songs older, which i find odd. and when i pressed play, it actually played "blew" by nirvana which is whats in the songticker.

so, i just wanted to document that the history is "accurate" while the playlist and songticker are "behind" and i guess i was mildly curious as to why this was, meaning, i find it interesting that the songticker and playlist revert back 10 songs or so, and i wanted to know why they do so, ie. how that works?

but again, not a big deal, just wanted to document it.

the history view just tracks playback starting messages and then saves that out (which is what the history fix was for to preserve that).

what Winamp was actually playing in the playlist editor is not preserved and that has never been the case. maybe the disparity you've now noticed is because the history is correctly saved whereas before you would have lost that and re-starting Winamp after the crash would have the history view likely appear to be in sync with the playlist editor position.

so it is everything working as expected - the history view preserves updates when made so you don't loose them and the playback position is set to whatever was there when Winamp had loaded before the crash (unless you're using anything to try to preserve that position whilst Winamp is running).
