Winamp 5.8 (build 3660)
Clean install, 3rd-party input plugins, no 3rd-party skins or output plugins
Language Pack installed: English (US)
Skin: Winamp Classic
OS: Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)
Locale: English US
CPU: AMD FX(tm)-8300 Eight-Core Processor, 3300 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Memory: 8GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030
Sound: Realtek High Definition Audio
DirectX 12
Problem:
Recording from Nullsoft MIDI Player v3.55 (included with Winamp 5.8) to WAV via Nullsoft Disk Writer v2.18 (also included with Winamp 5.8) results in randomly-skipped notes after the first 3 seconds or so whenever Disk Writer’s "save as" dialog option is checked. The amount of skipped notes is proportional to the amount of time spent displaying the "save as" dialog window.
Normal MIDI playback via Nullsoft WaveOut Output v2.20 (included with Winamp 5.8) does not skip any notes; recording MIDI to WAV with the "save as" dialog unchecked also does not skip notes.
Method of Reproduction:
1. Right-click on Winamp’s title bar and choose Options > Preferences
2. On Plugins > Input, double-click on Nullsoft MIDI Player v3.55
3. Change Device to: DirectMusic / Microsoft Synthesizer (with output)
4. Click OK
5. On Plugins > Output, double-click on Nullsoft Disk Writer v2.18
6. Check: Display "save as" dialog for every file
7. Click OK
8. Hit the Play button to bring up the "save as" dialog
9. Choose any filename, click Open
10. If the filename already exists, overwrite it by clicking OK.
Linked to this report is a ZIP archive containing the input sample MIDI file I used as well as five output WAV files recorded following the steps above:
1. "save as" dialog displayed for 1 second ([Display "save as" dialog for every file] checked)
2. "save as" dialog displayed for 2 seconds
3. "save as" dialog displayed for 3 seconds
4. "save as" dialog displayed for 4 seconds
5. no "save as" dialog displayed ([Display "save as" dialog for every file] unchecked - this is the clean, bug-free reference recording)
