just got around to fixing this, so things will be back to expected with the next labs update, though it's still recommended to read in the background ala Winamp3 style.

        Playlist duplication when using Queue

        Winamp 5.64
Clean install, no 3rd-party skins or plugins
        Language Pack: English
        Skin: Bento Big
OS: Windows 7 Home premium (64-bit)
        Locale: English US
        CPU: Intel i7 920 @ 2.67GHz
        Memory: 4GB RAM
        Graphics: Geforce 9600GT
        Sound: Realtek onboard
        DirectX 11

        Problem:
Song will play twice when added to playlist via the queue. Very annoying at party when someone queues their fav song and x songs later it randomly plays again.

        Method of Reproduction:
        1. Enable queuing
        2. set playlist to random
        3. populate playlist and play
        4. find song not in playlist and add via queue wait until it has finished playing
        5. skip through remaining songs in playlist and queued song will play again.

are you using the current version of 5.64 i.e. build 3418 from the last week or so ? as that sounds too much like the issues build 3415 had.

I'm using 5.64.3418 and it also sounds similar to the issue I reported in the thread linked below (see post #47). Namely, the first song added to the jtfe queue manager (or at the top of the queue, if the songs are rearranged) plays twice. Normally songs are removed from the queue when they start playback, but the song at the top of the queue is only removed at the start of it's second playback.

What is Winamp? Why is Winamp? How is Winamp? All these burning questions and issues discussed within.

yet i'm not able to replicate that behaviour no matter what i've tried so far today. has to be something else messing with things as there's no reason for it to do such things with how things are being described.

Well, I've tried to get as close as I can to a configuration you may be using (info tool report attached). I could not use safe mode as that disables gen_jumpex.dll, so I renamed the extension to "off" for all of the other un-official 'dll' and 'w5s' plug-ins in my normal configuration.

There are a couple issues in the report (I will inform Koopa). It says I'm using a visualization when none are installed and it lists gen_jumpex.dll as official (but safe mode blocks it).

I switched to the Big Bento skin (since I'd disabled ClassicPro.w5s) and I still get the behavior I've described when adding files to the jtfe queue manager (1st song in the queue plays twice).

how exactly are you adding items to the queue ?
and it's listed as official since it's in the installer but i purposefully set it not to run under safe mode initially (after the other issue it's functionality was causing), but dunno, maybe i should or just provide a custom build for testing purposes which is safe mode happy.

I select them in the playlist editor listing and then use it's context menu's "Send to:" command followed by the "Add to queue" command.

I just downloaded and re-installed to repeat the snag and confirm build 3418.

Once I enable JTFE queue manager, every time I select a song from media library and add it to the queue it shows up in the playlist window, plays next and then repeats before the rest of the playlist is finished.

Okay.... at Aminifu's request... here I am trying to make sense of post #18. but you guys are gonna have to spoon feed me as I have never used JTFE before. Well, I thought I hadn't until I had been taught that "Enqueue" is JTFE...

These are daft questions, but I don't know your terminology here...

                        Method of Reproduction:
                        1. Enable queuing - how? Is this "Enable 'queue manager'" window? Or Queue Options / double-click mode \ Enter key mode set to queue?
                        2. set playlist to random - I assume you mean "shuffle"? And I assume "repeat" is off?
                        3. populate playlist and play
                        4. find song not in playlist and add via queue wait until it has finished playing - how do you add the song? Is "enqueue and play" from the OS context menu okay for the test?
                        5. skip through remaining songs in playlist and queued song will play again. - okay, now I am lost. If repeat is off then how will it jump from the end of the playlist to the next track?

I tried to make sense of this but soon got lost. Of course the track played twice as it is on shuffle and surely if repeat is on it will repeat? And if repeat is off then I can't see how it gets from the last track back into the rest of the shuffle?

I'll try again tomorrow... but for now, I am lost in the terms here of something I have never used before

Relevant to both this thread and the Beta thread when I was spotting the "bugs" in Enqueue and Play is how I use Winamp. I am a man who listens to albums. In the order they were produced - track 01 to track 12 in order. I never use shuffle, I never load up single tracks, I just have lists of albums in my playlist that I play in order.

Usually repeat is on, but other times I will turn repeat off if I have added a podcast to the end of my playlist to listen to.

My playlist often grows over the months as I add more albums according to mood. But I always add whole albums. Either drag and drop from the media library, or using the Win OS Context Menu of "Enqueue and Play" on a *.m3u file.

A couple important corrections. I wanted you to look at posts #18 through #25 to get a feel for splash1 and my issues and to see if you could replicate them (I didn't make that clear enough). The "Enqueue & Play" Windows Explorer context menu command is added by the JTFE plug-in, the separate "Enqueue" and "Play" context menu commands were already part of the native Winamp app.

Anyway, I wrongly assumed you were familiar with the JTFE feature, so with all due respect I rescind my request until you learn what JTFE does.

1 Enable queing: In Winamp preferences there is a "Jump to file" section with "ML options" where you can enable "media library 'JTFE Queue manager view' "
                            2 Random = playlist shuffling
                            4. find song not in playlist and add via queue wait until it has finished playing In library you can right click a song and select "Send to" and then select "add to queue" or just left click and drag to the "queue manager" at the bottom of the left hand window under "now Playing"
                            5. With shuffle on you will see that the playlist advances randomly but the song that you queued via step 4 plays again before the playlist finishes.

                            I hope this helps.

It is not clear to me if you are shuffling the list in the playlist editor or the one in the queue manager and which list is being played.

Anyway, in shuffle mode when you add a song to a list that has already been shuffled, it is shuffled again. This can lead to repeated playback of some items. I'm not sure if this is what you are seeing.

Lets say I put 10 songs in the playlist we'll call them A thru J.

Lets also suppose that shuffle somehow miraculously plays them in alphabetical order.

After songs A thru D play and while song E is playing I add song Z to the playlist by finding it in the library, right clicking it and selecting "send to ... queue"

Song Z will play after song E is done and then the playlist will continue to play songs F thru J randomly but it will also play song Z again before stopping after all songs are played.

Songs A thru E do not repeat as would be expected, but song Z does.
