the jtfe queue does not modify the shuffle list - it's something that's been on the todo list since 2004 so that what is added and played from the queue is then taken out of the next items to play in the shuffle list (basically requires changes in the plug-in and Winamp core to be able to do it).

also as Aminifu notes, the process of adding an item to the playlist will cause the shuffle list to be altered and so files that have already been played can be re-played again (which is what i think most of the 'shuffle is crap' threads stem from). so for what's described in the post above, that is correct behaviour for how Winamp + shuffle currently works.

I think whatever subroutine that is called to remove a song from the shuffle list is not being called when the song is played from the queue.

Ok, that explains what splash1 is seeing, but my issue is different.

I'm not using shuffle mode. Normally items in the queue manager are removed when they start playback. I'm seeing the first item in the queue remaining until it starts to playback a second time. This lends general support to what is suggested in post #32 (but I think DrO already said it doesn't remove items in the shuffle list).

I know you (DrO) have not been able to replicate this behavior, but I'm wondering if anyone else can.

which is what i said in my reply above this. jtfe queue + shuffle have no interaction and until that changes, what is seen in the post which i'd commented on about this is working completely as expected.

All in all, this remains a bug that needs to be fixed.

I'd say feature request since no plug-in has the interaction level which is wanted as overriding or the playback order was a hack done back in the early 5.x days so never got fully integrated properly.

and as I said its been on the todo list for the plug-in for years so I know about it, is a matter of time to change a) native functionality and b) a plug-in which is developed in my free time and so is generally at the bottom of the list of things to work on.

so hopefully at some point I'll be able to do something about it but its not on my immediate list of things since its not causing memory leaks or memory wastage or causing Winamp to crash / hang.

                Hello

                Winamp 5.65
                Clean install, yes
                3rd-party skins or plugins, no
                Language Pack: French (fr)
                Skin: Winamp Modern

                OS: Windows 7 Professional (64-bit)
                Locale: French
                CPU: Intel I7 3930K
                Memory: 16GB RAM
                Graphics: Geforce GTX 660ti

                Problem:
I have a bug with the media library, if I want to import files in the playlists, the "import playlist from file" option does not work if Winamp is in french, but the option works if Winamp is in english (same with 5.64, ok with 5.63)

                Thanks

                PS: sorry for my english

                  Metadata Reading

                  Winamp 5.65 (build 3438)
Clean install, no 3rd-party skins or plugins
                  Language Pack: English (US)
                  Skin: Classic

                  OS: Windows Xp Professional (64-bit)
                  Locale: English US
                  CPU: Intel Pentium E2200 2.2GHz (2 cpu's)
                  Memory: 4GB RAM
                  Graphics: Geforce GTS 450
                  Sound: Realtek High Definition Audio
                  DirectX 9.0c

                  Problem:
When set to read the metadata "when files are loaded into winamp" the duration is only loaded when the file is played.

                  Method of Reproduction:
                  1. Preferences -> Tiles -> Read metadata when file(s) are loaded into winamp.
                  2. Add one or more files to playlist.

Note: This works fine in v5.64.

this was meant to be working fine in 5.65 after a few other things with playlist handling in 5.64 were changed and broke some of the title options. without testing I cannot confirm the reported issue. however the work around is to use the 4th option which is the new default.

is likely due to the French language pack not having been updated for 5.64 / 5.65. will have to see if we can fix it or to get the authors to fix (and update the rest of the language pack).

                        Hi Eax,

How are you adding files to the playlist? Drag & drop from Windows Explorer, enqueue from Windows Explorer, enqueue from the media library, etc. ?

I have seen this behavior in several versions and it seems to depend on exactly how files are added to the playlist. I'm using a custom ATF string. Sometimes the string is fully show and other times the file must be played in order for the string to be fully displayed.

                          Hi Aminifu,
I almost always use the add dir option in the playlist (insert button as a shortcut). Drag and drop and enqueue work fine, the only add dir option doesn't load the duration when files are added.

                            Hi Eax,

We're not talking about the same thing. I misunderstood what you meant by duration (or play length). But the added detail you provided is what the devs need to fix things. I don't remember ever using that option. There are so many ways to use Winamp.

                            Thank you for responding back.

                              Hi Eax,

Did you try what DrO suggested in post #44 above (changing the metadata reading option)?

the changes in 5.64 / 5.65 with playlist loading shouldn't have caused option #1 to fail and trying to check all of the changes doesn't show a reason why those changes have caused this.

the next beta should fix it, though using the option #4 i'd mentioned achieves the desired result without locking up Winamp on file / playlist loading as much as happens when using option #1.
