    the next beta should fix it, though using the option #4 i'd mentioned achieves the desired result without locking up Winamp on file / playlist loading as much as happens when using option #1.
    there's a new labs build up now which has the fix for the title reading issue -> http://www.winamp.com/labs/pc

    though it's still recommended to use the background reading option instead of the read on load due to it giving a poorer experience.

      Skin: Winamp Modern

      OS: Windows 7 Professional (64-bit)
      Locale: French

      Problem:
      I have a bug with the media library, if I want to import files in the playlists, the "import playlist from file" option does not work if Winamp is in french, but the option works if Winamp is in english (same with 5.64, ok with 5.63)

      Thanks

        your issue is different from the fix you've quoted so it is not a surprise its still not fixed (since its not been looked into yet).

          Winamp is still confused by some VBR files and shows the wrong song length. And I've been telling you about for a long time. How an "ultimate" player can that be when ALL the other players report the correct file length? How long until you fix it? Is it so hard??
          (no other specifications needed)

            You are funny. Have you got an example file you can upload? Have you checked the file with a tool like MP3val? You have so little detail in your post that the devs will end up asking you to install the "psychic plug-in" to help them work out how to reproduce your problem.

              I agree with BP, you need to upload example files. and as I recall, when u did last time, they were broken, in that they had bad headers and so on. winamp then was not at fault, the bad files were. winamp made a choice to be "tougher" on garbage in, than other apps, and its a choice I agree with.

                Sure, very funny. And Winamp is even funnier. And respondents even funnier.... while it is such an easy problem to understand: ALL (A. L. L.) the other players I have (5-6), even older versions, CAN interpret correctly ALL VBR MP3s. The ONLY invalid is Winamp. Then why are you sending me to the middle ages MP3val? Just fix the damn player. How many years does it take you to understand the users just want to enjoy the player, and not do software procedures? One day you'll fix that and you'll look back in shame at these silly replies.

                Those particular VBR MP3s are made with RealPlayer Converter.

                Are there more polite and more intelligent respondents here?

                  I think you have probably answered your own question. RealPlayer is clearly doing something wrong to those files. Fix them up with something like MP3Val and all will be well. (I am amazed RealPlayer is still around... has always been a bit odd that one)

                  I assume you have also tried contacting RealPlayer for a fix to their bug?

                  Why don't you upload some of your example files? Nothing can be done without them.

                  And don't forget that most of the replies on here are not from developers. This is a community of Winamp users here who act as Troll Filters...

                    luckily, you will not get your way. that's b/c you are rude, and its b/c you are wrong. it is not the job or duty of an app to cover up one's garbage. take out your own trash.

                      Hi sorein,

                      Winamp does not include the extra code to look for and work around file header issues. Maybe it should, maybe not. Once it starts down that road, where does it end?

                      Some other apps do try to figure out header errors. They have to offer more to compete. Just saying ...

                      I agree with BP and MrS, Winamp does a very good job with properly encoded files. It is the user's job to provide that or look elsewhere for a player to meet their needs. Yes, I'm a Winamp fan. Been one for over 15 years.

                        i've now had a chance to look and the issue is due to the french language pack not having a new resource in it which caused things to fail. i've put in a work around so the dialog will appear in english if a translated version is not present which should allow it to work for you.

                          Description: Speakers (High Definition Audio Device)

                          Problem:
                          =======

                          When you press INS and get the "Open Folder" dialogue box, it will not show its "sibling" folders in the same parent directory AFTER you select a directory whose parent has more than exactly 100 directories in it.

                          Method of Reproduction:
                          ===================

                          1: Create a folder with 101 subfolders. Sample batch file below will create 101 subfolders in whatever directory it's executed from.

                          @ECHO OFF

                          FOR /L %%A IN (1, 1, 101) DO (
                          MKDIR %%A
                          )

                          2: Press INS in Winamp to get the "Open Folder" dialog.

                          3: Select one of the 101 subfolders, ie, 6.

                          4: Press INS again, notice that it shows only "6" being a subfolder, the other 100 are gone.

                          5: Want the problem to "go away"? Delete any 1 of the subfolders to get the count back to 100.

                          A screenshot showing the problem as a .png is in the attached .zip file. The attachment manager wouldn't accept valid .png's or .jpgs, claiming they were corrupt when they most certainly were not. (Maybe a bug report for another day...)

                            I'm not sure if I overlooked something or if it matters given the news, but this:

                            Misc: [installer] Added a "Winamp (Safe Mode)" option to start menu icons

                            seems to be missing? is it in there? if yes, where? if no, any chance this or other lil bugs that might crop up in this release get fixed for a very minor point release?

                            (sorry to hear the news, I will post on it later, but I'm travelling now)

                              it'll only have been set if you checked the option during install to add Winamp to the start menu.

                                when I pres "Enqueue in Winamp" from windows context menu on file AND on folder it starts playing that file/folder - for example I have:
                                song 1
                                song 2
                                in my playlist and after I click "Enqueue in Winamp" on song 3 it start playing said song 3 (while adding it to the playlist)
                                I'm using Windows 8.1 Winamp 5.66, no plugins
