This thread is titled Winamp 5.666, but the bug report I submitted above is based on Winamp 5.8 (not sure if the bug also happens to 5.666 but I have no means of reproducing this on 5.666). Is it prudent to keep it here or should I delete my report above (that is, if it’s possible for me to delete it myself unless it’s a moderator-only function) and repost it as a separate thread?

    Winamp 5.666 Build 3516 Dec. 12 2013
    Clean install
    Language Pack installed: German

    OS: Windows 10 20H2 (64-Bit)
    CPU: AMD FX(tm)-3700 Eight-Core Processor, 3600 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)
    Memory: 32 GB RAM
    Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560TI

Problem: When I play different mp3 tracks with Winamp, some tracks look like this in Winamp: See picture 1. When I play others tracks see picture 2. The second picture is somehow strangely displayed. I want to have all titles in Winamp as in picture 1. I use the "Winamp Modern" Skin

Thanks for the effort and help.

    Winamp 5.8 (build 3660)
Clean install, 3rd-party input plugins, no 3rd-party skins or output plugins
    Language Pack installed: English (US)
    Skin: Winamp Classic

    OS: Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)
    Locale: English US
    CPU: AMD FX(tm)-8300 Eight-Core Processor, 3300 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
    Memory: 8GB RAM
    Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030
    Sound: Realtek High Definition Audio
    DirectX 12

    Problem:
Recording from Nullsoft MIDI Player v3.55 (included with Winamp 5.8) to WAV via Nullsoft Disk Writer v2.18 (also included with Winamp 5.8) results in randomly-skipped notes after the first 3 seconds or so whenever Disk Writer’s "save as" dialog option is checked. The amount of skipped notes is proportional to the amount of time spent displaying the "save as" dialog window.
Normal MIDI playback via Nullsoft WaveOut Output v2.20 (included with Winamp 5.8) does not skip any notes; recording MIDI to WAV with the "save as" dialog unchecked also does not skip notes.

    Method of Reproduction:
    1. Right-click on Winamp’s title bar and choose Options > Preferences
    2. On Plugins > Input, double-click on Nullsoft MIDI Player v3.55
    3. Change Device to: DirectMusic / Microsoft Synthesizer (with output)
    4. Click OK
    5. On Plugins > Output, double-click on Nullsoft Disk Writer v2.18
    6. Check: Display "save as" dialog for every file
    7. Click OK
    8. Hit the Play button to bring up the "save as" dialog
    9. Choose any filename, click Open
    10. If the filename already exists, overwrite it by clicking OK.

Linked to this report is a ZIP archive containing the input sample MIDI file I used as well as five output WAV files recorded following the steps above:
    1. "save as" dialog displayed for 1 second ([Display "save as" dialog for every file] checked)
    2. "save as" dialog displayed for 2 seconds
    3. "save as" dialog displayed for 3 seconds
    4. "save as" dialog displayed for 4 seconds
    5. no "save as" dialog displayed ([Display "save as" dialog for every file] unchecked - this is the clean, bug-free reference recording)

    Winamp slow playback

    I use Winamp 5.8 beta.
I noticed that some mp3 songs play rather slowly.
The latest stable release is identical.
    Please fix.

Just to be clear I've tried this in Safe Mode with all plugins removed. My system settings are:
    Win7ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601)
    English
    i3-2130
    4GB RAM
    DirectX 11
    Realtek High Definition Audio
    Driver: RTKVHD64.sys
    Version: 6.00.0001.7541
How to replicate the second bug: 1. Open playlist 2. Select multiple songs. 3. Edit metadata 4. Give them all the same name and as they are updating it crashes

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate edition and Winamp version 5.666.3516 with Equalizer by nevi and SA Perfect Declipper 2.00 by Hans van Zutphen and have two bugs: 1. Winamp will not show up on my taskbar. (I access it by clicking the pin of the shortcut to it I made on the taskbar).
    2. Winamp crashes every time I select multiple songs and give them the same comment. Here is the error I get:

As a long time computer user, you know 'the devil is in the details'. I was asking you to provide some. For example, does the drag & drop sometimes not work when you do 1 file at a time or when you do a group of files? When you drag a group, how do you select the group and is the selection method the same when it doesn't work? Are all the files on a local internal drive or a mix of internal and external (or network) drives?

I didn't say the JTFE plug-in was the problem or a problem. I said the plug-in allows for different ways for files to be added to Winamp (the playlist or queue) when you drag & drop, other than them ending up at the bottom of the playlist in the Playlist Editor.

I also tried to explain why when you select and drag files A + B + C as a group, they may end up listed as C + A + B or in some other order.

I'm sorry my reply was confusing (maybe I'm over-complicating things trying to guess what may be causing your issue). I seldom use drag & drop, but it always works when I do. I normally use the right click context menu commands to enqueue or enqueue & play, since this method is faster and eliminates potential drag & drop handling errors. The 'enqueue & play' context menu command is another benefit of the JTFE plug-in. The default context menu commands either let you add to the playlist (enqueue) or replace what's in the playlist with the added files (play).

Hi! thanks men, but what kind of question is that?.. Of course i use normaly my cumputer, since 20 years ago!. What order you talking about?. I said sometimes I can drag and drop files to the playlist and sometimes i cant do it!.

No , i dont have JTFE plug in installed. So that is not the problem.
I know that windows controls the listed order of the gruop of files, and no.. i have the control of the files (even i said that I am the admin, and i have windows 10 pro!)... So, sometimes I can drag and drop, and sometimes no. So, yes.. this is another problem and is a bug, an error! something is wrong.

    What do you think?

    tnks 4 the answer...

Are you using the exact same procedure (things you do and the order in which you do them) that works sometimes and sometimes doesn't?

By default, files are added to the end of the Playlist Editor's playlist. If you installed the 'Jump to File Extra' (JTFE) plug-in, then you can select the 'General Preferences - File Types - Shell Options' option to have the files inserted after the currently playing (or selected) file in the playlist instead.

In addition, you can also chose to have the files added to the JTFE Queue instead of the Playlist Editor's playlist. Files can added to the start or end of the queue. Then you can use the JTFE Queue Manager window to further rearrange the files (if you want) and add the files to the Playlist Editor's playlist for playback or play them directly from the JTFE Queue Manager window. If you use the JTFE Queue Manager to play the files, there are several options to control what happens after the files are played (e.g. stop, resume playback in the Playlist Editor's playlist, shutdown, etc.)

The Windows OS controls the listed order of the group of files dragged to Winamp. Many people think this is a Winamp bug, but it's not. You have limited control of this grouping that depends on how the files in the group were selected (the files selected first and last in a consecutive group <Shift + click> and/or the order of files selected separately <Ctrl + click>) and the particular file in the final grouping that is clicked on to drag the group (first, last, or other). Windows Explorer also provides other ways to select files (i.e. draw a 'selection box' around the files or enable the option that puts a selection check-box next to each file). Experiment and note the results. Sometimes you just have to rearrange things after the transfer (e.g. drag within the playlist or queue).

I have this problem since windows 10 upgrade that using "F1" and "F2" as keybinds for changing songs in winamp does not work while another program is active even though the active program does not use the keys. Did not have this problem in Windows 7, what im thinking is that the keybind priority for "F1-F12" keys are prioritized differently in windows 10. Is there a way to configurate a program to always have priority on certain keybinds?

iirc that's by design as a means to clear the rating and anything done on the 'average' version is going to be applied to all instances of the tracks.

there is probably an option on the rating settings (on one of the library preference pages) that allows for that behaviour not to happen.

and it's just Winamp not liking ratings and it does everything it can to remove / destroy them
