  • "Single tray icon" plugin released

    Hi there,

wonder if anyone else finds this useful.. This is a simple plugin for Winamp 5 that hides the Winamp agent icon while Winamp is running, and restores it when Winamp is shut down.
So if you have enabled the agent with the systray icon and have told Winamp to show up in the systray, you'll no longer have two systray icons, but only one.
    Download: http://members.rosenkeller.org/~christoph/winamp/

    Source code available there,too.

    Cheers,
    Chris

@evolution76: for quick access to Winamp and your bookmarks, and presumably to prevent file associations being "stolen" from Winamp.

@sanosuke,Cianca: What the heck are you talking about???

                [edit]completely replaced post[/edit]
I have made a new version, which now uses internal Winamp procedures for finding the location of winamp.ini, so it no longer relies on registry settings (which, I suppose, was the problem). Try downloading v0.2 at http://members.rosenkeller.org/~chri.../gen_stray.dll and see if this one works

if it still doesn't work, send me a mail, so I can make up a "debug version" for you to try and see where the error is. (The source is about 20 lines so that's no problem *lol*)

chris_31 WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL THIS TIME?

                  You're like DrO's Missing clone

Are you the MiniMe DrO has in his avatar?

It looks like we have a few Coding Gods now and not just one.

                  Chris your the bomb!

cool, I've just written two little enhancements and am already being called a "coding god" - that's what I call a career!
But seriously, I believe that the guys producing encoding/decoding/visualization stuff deserve this name much more... What they do is pure mathematics, the crown of all science

sorry chris!!! your plugin maybe (maybe) works...

i have a problem (bug?) in winamp 5.04... when i click on the preferences--> winamp agent ("enable winamp agent" is checked) i click on "show system tray icon" to enable or disable the agent's tray icon but nothing happen.... why??? (i need help from DJ EGG)

in fact your plugin work right... the option is disabled on winamp launch and restored on exit....... but this function doesn't work in WINAMP!!! :|

do you actually have the agent installed? (it's an install-time option, dunno if the UI reflects it if the agent is not installed)

Check for a file named winampa.exe in your winamp folder. Also check in the task manager for winampa.exe; if the agent is enabled, there should be a tsk running. Try running the agent by double-clicking winampa.exe ...

BTW, if you want to "debug" your running system, a very good bet is always to use regmon/filemon/dbgview suite from sysinternals http://www.sysinternals.com/
