And yet a new release to show those how doubt that Winamp is alive and kicking but sleeping until it's needed again to return and show those other blooted players what people want and what they should be!

Am I a poet or what?
    NOTE: I am Dextro!

So the only real change is this bugfix: * Fixed playFile function in gen_ff.dll (Allows Modern skins to launch playback). Umm, nice!

Please tell the marketing guys at AOL that we want another free mp3 already. You've been bundling that Silvertide song for ages now.

Nothing really affecting me so maybe I'll wait for 5.1 or 6.
              Thanx

I think it's funny but it's a nice slap to the face of all those who kept knocking Winamp even though they have had a great and generally free player for all this time. If there are any suggestions for updates some further optimizations would be nice - just to make the player even more nippy than it already is. I read somewhere about decoding accuracy of MP3s and would like Winamp to decode as accurately as possible if it doesn't do so already

                      Thanks Winamp Team!

                          Nice news!
But I have one veery simple question:

Why there is no any info about this new version on the main winamp page?
And as far as I can see 5.08d was released 4-5 days ago...
Why the download links still continue to lead us to 5.08c?
Someone forgot to update the download section or what?

I mean I hate to download some "beta" software..
And when there is no link for in on the main page, I think this is just a development build or something.
                          Can someone explain it, please.
                          I really want to know...
                          - Forever!

Updates to the live winamp.com site usually happen a few days after the builds go live on the server, just a little slow updating this time :-/

                              @bulgarian_boy...

Any time a moderator or admin (eg: Craig in this case) "stickies" a new topic named similarly to "Winamp 5.08d released!" and that topic is "stuck" (as a Sticky thread which only mods and/or admins can create), then you can always be guaranteed that each and every link there is an official release, and not some "development build" as you indicated above. Also, nothing ever offered for download at the Winamp.com site can ever be considered "beta" software, again, as you indicated. It would always be an official release, altough in this case, an older release since the site hasn't been updated yet. This, among other reasons, is why we always tell people to read the Stickies, which unfortunately they rarely do. People are lazy by nature in that regard. I even indicate in my signature to read the Stickies, but I might as well be beating a dead horse for what good it does.

And as Mr Jones and I both indicated, the site is always slow to be updated. In this case, longer than usual.
Don't email or PM me concerning Winamp. Instead, either start a NEW TOPIC or post a REPLY in the appropriate thread in these forums. This will also benefit others who may have a similar question or problem. But before posting, please first Search the forums and read all FAQs and all Sticky threads.
