Winamp 5.5 Beta Preview 3 (Build 1600) to 5.5 Final (Build 1640) Changelog

* = 5.36/5.5 beta-specific issues

-New: Fully translatable Localization support

-New: WLZ (Winamp Language Zip) filetype support

-New: [vis_milk2] Milkdrop2 Visualizer

-New: Option to not show the playlist number in the Windows taskbar

-New: %family% ATF string for identifying filetypes (eg. %family% on MP3 returns "MPEG Layer 3 Audio File")

-New: $split() ATF function, used mainly for splitting disc & track strings. Examples: [$num(%track%,2)$IfStrNotEqual($split(%track%,/,1),,/$num($split(%track%,/,1),2))]
If %track% is 5/9, $split(%track%,/,0) returns "5", $split(%track%,/,1) returns "9".
If %track% is 5, $split(%track%,/,0) returns "5", $split(%track%,/,1) returns nothing.

-Improved: Album Art: Delete art working in Alt+3 for external images (note, not working for embedded art until next release), Embedded art showing in Alt+3, art lookup/download service now ignores brackets at end of album (eg. [EP] etc).*

-Improved: Album Art: %album%.jpg path cleaning. Retrieval service now replaces illegal characters in the Album name by using the same naming convention as cd ripping for saving the cover filename. i.e.
? * | are replaced by _ (underscore)
/ \ : are replaced by - (hyphen)
" is replaced by '
< is replaced by (
> is replaced by )
Examples:
Album Name: Greatest Hits: Why? = cover filename: Greatest Hits- Why_.jpg
Album Name: Vol. 1: "\Bleh/" <|Blah|> = cover filename: Vol. 1- '-Bleh-' (_Blah_).jpg*

-Re: Using .nfo files for album art lookup
If there's an .nfo file in the same folder as the album files with the exact name as an image file (jpg, jpeg, gif, bmp) then Winamp will see said image, eg. "Pink Floyd - Animals - cover.nfo" & "Pink Floyd - Animals - cover.jpg" (see release notes above for lookup criteria order).

More details regarding this and how you can make your own language packs will follow shortly (i've got to sleep at some point

). The main thing is that 5.5 provides us with a chance to set language packs on a level from the start and yes this does mean that all existing ones have been deprecated (i'm sure someone will have a go at me about this) but with the mass of changes to winamp.lng this would have been needed anyway to ensure users get all of the fixes.

We know that there are some quirks (alignments in language packs aren't 100% at times) and issues (mainly down to the design of the modern skins though there is an image remapping system in place which makes it a lot easier than distributing the whole skin again) but overall the WLZ System (v1.0) and support for localisation throughout the player is all there as you will see from the bundled language packs

And for those of you who've been wondering what i've been doing for the last few months, well is it along with all of the misc tweaks/fixes documented in this and the last few winamp releases.

This is an awesome release... Milkdrop2 is as amazing as the new Bento skin... and yes, finally we (officially) have Album Art support in winamp, something i've been craving for at least 3 years

The german has a few glitches (Media library and browser is not translated correctly, seems to be some scandinavian language..).

Just a quick and simple question:

Do I need to uninstall 5.35 before installing 5.5? In other words, will there be problems if I try to install the new version over my old one?

I did a clean install and I get the same problems since the ugly beta3 (build 1600).. I hate it... Beta2 (build 1568) worked fine..
The ML problem happens with all modern skins... And the songticker problem happens now too (and in 5.5 final it even happens WHEN pressing the first song in the playlist too.. but when I click another song than #1, the song text shows again)..

After thinking for a while, I got an idea. Do you remember in an earlier beta that there were a problem that people in certain countries got (for example Sweden)?
I THINK MY PROBLEMS IS SOMETHING SIMILAR... IT HAPPENS IN CERTAIN COUNTRIES... I am from Norway, and I think the problem might be country related...

DEVs, FIX IT! Look at the changelog between beta2 (build 1568) and beta3 (build 1600), and see what you fixed. SOMETHING THERE causes my problem..
I want some answers and some fixes

EDIT: Why did you take away the Modern Skin picture on the homepage, and replaced it with Bento? Why not have both?

On that page, there is no option to choose the lite version, but only Full, Bundle and Pro.. The Lite should also be there... To get lite, we have to click on a link..

When going from maximized mode with the Bento Skin to docked toolbar mode and back to maximized again there is a problem.

You have to re-maximize again because the Bento skin is not going back to maximized.
