  • musicf8: yeah, that's the only obvious thing which i can think off which might cause an issue. though i'd expect it's unlikely to cause any major issue, but am open to hear any feedback from anyone trying it before it get around to doing it.

    Pawel's post wasn't there when i started to reply (am slow tonight).

    [edit2]
    yeah that looks like i'd expect it to do so on a quick load + play. it's not how it copes with other workspaces (though i'm sure Windows has had the vague means to do multiple-desktops of sorts for years) and anything with snapping modes between desktop + modern Windows apps and so on.

          • As long as Gracenotes is back or some other form of auto-tagging, that's all I care about... no other MP3 player offers such an easy tagging option. I'm still using WinAMP now, but am manually tagging everything myself.

            • as already stated in the thread you'd previously posted in (as well as this one a few times now), Gracenote will not be used. though its not surprising you're having to manually tag things as WinAMP has never had an auto-tagger, only Winamp (5.x) had an auto-tagger feature.

              and yes I'm being picky but WinAMP has not been a valid product name for years whereas Winamp has been the correct spelling for much longer than what versions released as WinAMP were released for. seeing as 5.x appeared almost 11 years ago and Winamp [whatever the spelling] has been around for about 17 years with WinAMP the official spelling for not that long due to legal issues.

              • Hi joshm662,

                If you really like using the product, show some respect for it's name.

                It is taking a while to work through the transition issues. However, Radionomy took on a big financial risk and it makes sense for them to move slowly, trying to make their 1st release as 'good' as possible.

                DrO is currently the only developer working on the desktop product and helping with SHOUTcast issues (and amazingly, he still takes time to answer questions and comments from almost everyone). It would take even longer to train new people and get them 'up to speed' on this code base which is over 16 years old. Patience at this time is necessary.

                You don't have to do all your tagging manually. There are less convenient options to help in getting part, or most, of the job done. Even Gracenote's results required review and corrections here and there (a little for some and a lot for others). It is wise to learn about alternatives for everything in life, to use when your 1st choice is not available.

                  @Aminifu Totally agree.
                  @joshm662: May I suggest thegodfather or Musicbrainz Picard for your tagging needs? Check them out.

                  To the developers and DrO : Thanks

                    I also suggest Musicbrainz Picard. It's pretty good with tagging, but it will also identify something that you might not know. Most of the time that works, but like with anything else, there are times it doesn't.

                            • Wow, I haven't been here in so long...

                              that I forgot I was using this ancient username! I wonder if I can get this changed...

                              So hey, I'm super glad to see that Winamp is coming back! After all these years - switching to Linux with Audacious in '07, switching to foobar2000 on Windows 7 in 2011, and now using Linux, Windows, and OS X regularly every week - I'm really looking forward to trying a new version! Especially if it can now be on 2/3 of the OSes I use! I'm getting pretty tired of using VLC on OS X to play my music and listen to streams, but it's the only lightweight player I could find that had all the features I needed. If Winamp for Mac gets an update, I could have a nice full-featured music player on my Mac, finally.
