I am running Winamp 5.666 Build 3516 under Windows 7 and 10 (deepening on which machine).
In many of my M3U playlists, I include a whole album by dimply naming its folder, e.g.
\sounds\Eagles\Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975
This is considerably simpler than listing its MP3 files one by one.
Note: I omit a drive specification so that Winamp looks on the same drive as the M3U file being played.
The above works perfectly as long as the drive (holding both the M3U playlist and MP3 music) is mounted as a local drive (physically mounted to the machine on which Winamp is running). In that case, Winamp plays all the files in the named folder.
But when the same drive is mounted as a network drive (to a different computer on my LAN and shared with the computer running Winamp) then Winamp declares "not found" to the folder names. It still works for the lines in the M3U which explicitly name individual MP3 files.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Found a fix? I know, "Doctor, it hurts when I do that." ... "Then don't do that." I mean the obvious fix is to edit each M3U file to replace the folder name with the full paths to each file in it. But beyond that, can I make it work as I intended?
