It works just fine on Windows 11. Thank you for bringing the legendary program back to life! But all the alternative desctop icons look awful. I especially like the dark icon, and it used to look cool even on Windows XP back then. But now it looks like pixeled garbage. I hope you wil fix it in the filal release version.

It is also working like a charm for me under Win11 x64, my only complain so far is that it still won't support Rich Presence with Discord.
And, to be honest, haven't even noticed the icons issue you mentioned, since I have zero icons on my desktop.

No matter how much the sound level was increased in v5.8, the boost of the audio was lackluster. (There was a solution to this.)

I tried v5.9 today. I selected the WASAPI Output. In audio playback, the volume level has noticeably decreased. Same issue, like v5.8.

The WASAPI plugin (as-is) is known not to be functioning properly as noted by DJ Egg. I myself will wait for RC2 since it's very possible the "Not-So-Yasapi" alternate plugin will function at that point.

The Reg hacks you posted - what version of Windows do these come from? One of the links you posted mentioned Windows 8.1 and those links are dated 2008, 2010, & 2018. I know some users are still using Vista/Win 7/Win 8 (or 8.1) but the rest of us have moved on to Windows 10 & 11. Please be careful posting Reg hacks that might harm OS versions they're not intended for.

I have installed Winamp 5.9 on Windows 7 x64. When I try to select one of the standard modern skins (Winamp Modern or Bento) I get an error "You are attempting to use a Modern skin but have not installed the Modern skin support plug-in". And only the classic skin still works:



I also installed Winamp on a clean virtual windows 7 x64. But there is the same error.

After install Winamp 5.9 in my Windows 8.1 computer, I realized about that modern skin support bug. I selected manually that option after install, and it seems to refuse to run correctly the modern skin support.

I don't know if it's my mistake but when i ran winamp an error occurs every time.
Anothe question though... Do you plan to make winamp x64 bit someday?

I deleted "Microsoft.VC142.CRT" folder of Winamp.

I already installed and keep using lastest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes (AIO Repack by @abbodi1406).

Winamp 5.9 RC1 crashes everytime i scan for media files

I know this is in danish, but I hope this is clear anyway. Systems is Windows 10 Pro Swedish Gfx card: GeForce GTX 1080 with latest drivers. When i try to run Winamp in safemode I cannot add files to library. It simply doesn't add anything but just show the Add files window again.

These faulty non-English installations are really surprising, such as certain components like Modern Skin support failing to install properly. I have several different Winamp installations installed and running in Windows 11 and I was able to install 5.9 RC1 in a specially named folder and it STILL runs without any error.

Only that particular colour gives you problems?, what did the error message say?

It game me this error when i try to run ANY modern Winamp skin, even tho i was using 5.8 WITH modern Winamp skin.

Get your plugins from the Winamp folder, Uninstall Winamp , delete the folder in the program files and go for a clean install instead of upgrading from 5.8 and let us know if that solved the problem.
