I'm new to Winamp and I have noticed that you can't seem to be able to embed album art into the mp3... is there a plugin that will allow you to embed album art?
If you just want to add album art the normal way where Winamp saves a copy of the art to the album's name in the same folder the file is in then vanilla Winamp works fine.
If however, you literally want to EMBED album art into the file itself then you'll need a third party plugin to do it: BogProg Embedded Art.

I use my iPhone to listen to music in the car and the iPhone does not copy jpg's along with the mp3's... the previous reply of Alt+3 works..
That BogProg takes me to another post and I couldn't see a download link
Configure the plug-in before the first time using it. I suggest you select the "Embed by default and show option to not embed" mode and the "JPEG" default embed type. The plug-in also allows you to change the writer configurations for the 4 different image file types it supports. I suggest you don't change anything, unless you know how to correctly make changes.
Right-click on the track (be sure it's file's read only flag is not enabled) in the Playlist Editor that you want to embed a jpg image in (when it is not playing) and select the "View file info..." command (or select the track and use the Alt+3 hotkey). Then select the "Artwork" tab in the "File Info" window that opens. If the track is already associated with an image or contains an embedded image, it will be shown. The plug-in will replace this image.
Use the "Load Artwork..." button to go to the folder containing the jpg image you want to use and select it. It should appear on the tab (with an info heading containing the pixel by pixel image size, image file type and more). Finally click the "OK" button, which should embed the image in the track and close the "File Info" window.
Sometimes the process doesn't work the 1st time (for me with mp3s), so reopen the "File Info" window to the "Artwork" tab to check if the process was successful for you. If not, repeat the steps starting with the "Load Artwork..." button. If it still doesn't work, try 1 more time. I've never had to use more than 3 attempts to embed artwork.

You don't actually need to mess with anything after a fresh first install, it defaults to embed without prompting. Just use Winamp normally and it will embed.
The only known issue is for mp3 files that don't already have metadata tags. To get around this just set the text metadata first (album, artist, title, etc.) then add the art. All other file types that support album art operate normally, even those without any preexisting tags.
You guys must be talking about the new version of Winamp. I was talking about using the embed plug-in with v5.666.3516. My bad.
I did provide a lot of info in post #8 above. I tend to maybe provide too much info instead of not enough. Anyway I will stop giving advice until I learn what the new Winamp does.
