Wins and Losses. We have both
In December Last year I uninstalled winamp because the issues with it stopping play and stuttering were making it unusable as a music playing product. 2 weeks ago I thought I’d give it another run and installed 1.2.12.
I note that media button controls are able to pause and restart winamp (In this case simulated by Tasker scripts) So that is a big Win!!!
On the downside it is now regularly dropping the playlist while playing back. So after half an hour or so of play it just stops.
Now I don’t want to go back to my standard phone app because the random on it is Garbage, and winamp actually performs random properly. Add to this the 1X4 widget and you are on a winner (even if the lock screen is a bit clunky)
But non of this has any value if you can’t get the basic functionality of Load and reliably play music sorted.
I for one will purchase the Premium product when I can trust it will play. Please get this basic functionality sorted out.

Yes, PLEASE stop breaking bluetooth support with every major release...

        We need:
        - bluetooth controls that work when winamp is not front-most application.
        - bluetooth streaming music that when re-connected, resumes playback from where it stopped when it got disconnected from the BT device.
        - bluetooth controls that start winamp when the bt connection is (re-)connected, instead of the HTC-rom-based-so-i-can-not-remove music player.
        - bluetooth controls that work when winamp is moved onto the SD card.
        - winamp music that automatically mutes when google maps speaks (driving instructions).
        - winamp music that automatically resumes playback after google maps spoken instructions are finished.
        - winamp music that automatically mutes when a phone call is started.
        - winamp music that automatically resumes when a phone call is ended.
        - Separate volume controls for winamp music and Google maps voice.

I second that emotion... All the above would be very good and some even needed!

My winamp crashes all the time right now, I think its because my playque/playlist is to big.
Since I cant even start it now, it remembers last playlist/que.... So one wish more could be..

Crash discovery that gives the option to reset the playque/list or something like that.

            Tagging/metadata

Please explain why I need to purchase and use a separate app on my Nexus 7 tablet to replace the metadata already in my FLACs that are not transferred from my PC to my tablet. I have already meticulously tagged all my files with Artist, Album, Title, Track, Genre and Year.

Been using Winamp Pro on my HTC One S for some time now and I've especially liked the gapless playback. But the latest version (1.3.4) is now dropping a frame at the beginning of each track so that although play is without gaps it also skips a beat!

So far I've only tested it with AAC (mp4a) tracks but these worked flawlessly before. Anyone else having the same problem?

Is there *any* hope that WinAmp for Android will handle basic tags properly? My FLACs are all properly tagged, the tags display correctly in the PC version both in my local media and when I select the Nexus 7 tablet. But WinAmp on the tablet is completely clueless about the album, artist, title, track, genre and year even those tags are in the media files.

I am kind of surprised that there was no notice posted here. Not even a changelog. This is very unusual for the Winamp Community.

The Android community is different - maybe the Winamp community on Android is rather small. I prefer Mixzing...

Well, these are the Winamp boards. That's why I am confused. When a new Winamp version comes out, DJ Egg is diligent in changing the thread titles and posting the changlog (I love reading the changlog for some reason) DrO is great with answering questions (even ones he doesn't need to address) And it seems that no one is manning this Android forum. The wifi sync thread has still not been "officially" addressed. (I have gotten it to work sparingly myself) That is what I meant for unusual for the Winamp Community.

because it's basically different people doing it and there's a different focus on doing things. and usually Egg does update these threads as well (even if it's only the version title) but some things do slip through the net.

though as you're noticing, there isn't really a 'community' of android users as such on here and it's more about people complaining things don't work or complaining they're not getting a response.

that isn't ideal but i know when i've tried to jump in on things in here it's never gone well as people expect so much and i don't use WAFA (the most i've done is have a few builds in an Android emulator) so there isn't the same user / community knowledge about the product on the forums, which i think is one of the main differences.

DrO, That explains a great deal. Thank You for responding.

The WAFA app is really simple. You have music, it plays music. There are no tricks or hidden features really. But, its still new. I am sure some things will get fixed and updated as time goes on.

You are right, there isn't the same user / community knowledge about the product on these forums. That's basically because no one is getting answered in the first place, so no one knows anything.
