  • Winamp for Android missing in the market?

I just tried to re-install Winamp on this tablet, and I don't see it on the market anymore. Google, or Amazon. Anybody know if it's just me, or has it been pulled?

    -Thanks...

i just got my first smartphone. i have been using winamp on pc for nearly 15 years.

i don't want to find an alternative, so when will this be back up to download?

and is there another way of installing it if it doesn't come back online? i know with pc i download the old classic version from non official sites.

      thanks.

Hi, I can't seem to get the download link to work... it throws you back to this forum. Had to wipe my phone and need to reinstall the android app. Thanks.

Oh heck, not good. Looks like someone's removed the files from there :-(

            Sorry....

Were they links to the APKs? If so, a few of us have those saved; I can upload them when I get home in a few hours, but I'm sure someone will be able to supply them in the meantime.

I would strongly suggest uploading them as forum attachments, so you know they will only away if this site does... and if that happens, we've got bigger problems.

                  Updated APK download URLs

The downloads are still there, it is just that the links were broken with the domain name change from winampforum.com (which now redirects to forums.winamp.com) to winampenthusiasts.com.

To access the downloads use the below updated URLs.

APK - Winamp for Android 1.4.15
                  Download here...
                  http://winampenthusiasts.com/publicd...APKAndroid.zip (Approx 7mb)

                  Winamp Pro Stub APK
                  Download here...
                  http://winampenthusiasts.com/publicd...ub-1.1.0.1.apk
Note: Valid purchase on Google Play/Wallet required

                    D'oh! Of course.

The links have now been fixed.

                    Thanks

                    [EDIT : May 2014]

                    Download links updated again

All you have to do is go to Google & put WINAMP FOR ANDROID DOWNLOAD. Several will show up. I actually got mine there at Play Store but they don't,t show it if you first go in the store. Just go through Google like I explained and it takes u to Play Store that way. Why? I don't know...LOL I believe they also have it at Mobile1

I've got the .apk, now what

At the risk of sounding like a total technopeasant, how do I go about installing the file on my phone? I tried dropping in the file in a couple of places, and extracting it to others (including its own folder), but I've come up so far with bupkus. I JUST got a 'Droid phone, and am annoyed to no end that the music player that I've used for over fifteen years is no longer available to me in mobile format. Or should I just sit on my thumbs and use the built-in music player while we collectively wait for all of the legal nonsense to be figured out? :-\

I think you need to install an APK installer app from the play store. Then open it and look for the apk file you want to install.

                            @RandomSquirrel
You'll need to go to Android Settings and checkmark "Unknown sources" to allow installation of apps from sources other than Play Store.
It'll be in Settings > Security or Settings > Applications, depending on the device & OS.
Then just use the built-in file browser or Dropbox to browse to the apk and run it.
