I am very concerned about safety when installing software on my smartphone, so could I ask DrO, or DJ Egg or someone else from the Winamp team to post the md5sum for winamp.apk.
Doing so will allow me to verify that I have the correct file, and not something that contains malware. I realize that the links are probably safe, but at the same time, I would like to be 100% sure before installing a "non-play-store" apk.

Links to the Winamp Android apk point to Facebook, which requires a login.
I don't have a login, and I refuse to give Facebook any information at all because they're known to mismanage it (they burned that bridge with me).
Can the apk be posted to a more legitamate site?Comment

I agree. I will not use Facebook for anything, do not have an account, never did, and never will. It is complete privacy breach! Why does Facebook have to involved? Just like I do not understand the almost universal involvement of Google and PlayStore in order to get apps, when they could be released by the developer.
I have been trying to put Winamp for Android on my phone for weeks now. Every time I look into it, it is the same thing; not available.
Can someone post a download link that does not involve Facebook ?????
Does anyone know the status of the return of the general availability of the app on the internet ?????Comment

that link only works if you'd installed it before it was pulled from the app store as part of the close down / sale process. try it in a browser in private mode and you'll see what i mean.Comment

If you have downloaded winamp from play store then just look in your play store history and find winamp. Click on it and it will let you download it. This has worked for me! But only if you downloaded it before they took it off market.Comment

Exactly the point. I'm a new user for the Android version! I've only gotten an Android device this year. Thus the APK request.Comment

Android APK
As soon as my host provider gets a DNS issue fixed, I'll upload the APK and send a link.
If anyone has a CRC to provide to compare with one generated for my file, please share it.
The APK filename is com.nullsoft.winamp_1195.apk which might not be an original filename since I got it from a My Backup folder.

the file is already being hosted by someone else. but until a mass of things are sorted out, there will not be an 'official' download. all of this is covered in the main 'winamp news' thread in the main discussion forum (as the android forum was always a bit of a backwater when it was actively developed).Comment

then you're going to have to wait for a new official release as based on what you've said, any archived version is insecure (as that's all that is available when it comes to getting the last AOL version of WAFA).
as no offence to llandyw, but i'd go with a facebook hosted download over someone who might have been registered on these forums for a year and a half longer than myself, i know far more about the people who are running that page than anyone of the many sites which popped up to host unknown archived copies of the Winamp clients.Comment

Well, the CRC32 of the APK I have that came directly from the play store is: 00B213C2.
If that's not correct, then the play store has an invalid version.Comment

I uploaded the APK to comp-services.
The APK name is com.nullsoft.winamp_1195.apk and should be added after the domain name.
The CRC can be found in the previous post. It should match any of the other APKs out there of the same version.Comment
