  • Manually adding an online service in Winamp 5.666

The Online Services directory is currently down during the transition of services from AOL to Radionomy servers.

In Winamp 5.666 you can manually add an Online Service as follows:

    1. Right-click Online Services in the media library tree.
    2. Select: Service Management > New
    3. Enter the Name & Url for the relevant service
    4. Click "Save"

Here's a list of other known online services:

    Name: SHOUTcast Radio
    Url: http://www.shoutcast.com/scradioinwinamp/

    Name: SHOUTcast Directory
    Url: https://directory.shoutcast.com

    Name: SHOUTcast TV
    Url: http://thugie.nl/streams.php

    Name: Radionomy
    Url: https://www.radionomy.com/en/style

    Name: LyricsMeaning
    Url: http://www.lyricsmeaning.za.net

    Name: MetroLyrics
    Url: http://www.metrolyrics.com/widgets/winamp

    Name: SongFreaks
    Url: http://www.songfreaks.com/winamp/index

    Name: RadioFeeds UK & Ireland
    Url: http://www.radiofeeds.co.uk/winamp
    Icon: http://www.radiofeeds.co.uk/winamp/rf.png

Please feel free to add the Name & Url for more Winamp Online Services below.

We also recommend that you go to:
    Winamp > Prefs (Ctrl+P) > File Types
and select PLS from the list to make Winamp the default PLS playlist handler
(Windows 8 & 10 users will need to do this via "Windows Control Panel > Default Programs" instead).

This will make the Listen links open in Winamp instead of whatever other program/player might be your current PLS playlist handler.

Note, this is only a temporary issue whilst we rewrite the SHOUTcast Radio in Winamp view
(i.e. the new view will use the internal Winamp APIs again).

WinAmp's visualizations were a great element in its original success. It has always been a fine radio application. The post-(expletive) takeover additions do add value (SongFreaks' LyricStream is cool).

Attached is a collection of these and some original Online Services that can be added with a right-click, Service Management and Import File (highlight them all) to save some trouble. If anyone has Tour Tracker, 7digital or etc. updated links post them and I'll update the ZIP. Make WinAmp something for everyone again.

I have to tell You, that Exfm doesn't exist anymore. I discovered it 8 days ago, when I checked the online services in Winamp, which I do from time to time. Then I made the test-visit with the bookmarked link to my former Exfm-Profile in Chrome, where I found these bad news (also on http://ex.fm/wols in Firefox). This is the link to the blog of Exfm, where I have commented via Disqus:

Because I had thought, Exfm would be shut down much earlier, I had made my screenshots from my profile already in December...

Hi silicon83, I am curious about your statement that winamp has always been a fine radio player. I wish I could agree but, NOT. I don't even see how it survives, I've been using for online streaming for MANY years and about half the time the content simply will not play. Internet radio seems like a Godsend over AM radio broadcasting but it is yet to live up to its potential. Are the vast majority of users having the same experience? Have I been missing something on how to make it work?? A couple of channels seem rock solid (Alex Jones - Infowars) but all the rest are unreliable at best. I try new versions through the years and no real breakthrough. I would quit using winamp if I could have ever found a working replacement. Any ideas how I might make winamp work well for me?
            Thanks, breezelow

exfm is probably going to be a standard feature of Winamp so I'll ignore that that link no longer works.

                These need to go;
Moodagent - Non-functioning and changing to a new system.
Next generation custom label music streaming services. Designed for your brand, powered by Moodagent.

TopMusic Vids - Now leads to a fake BBC page containing a scam about cheap iPhones (delete ASAP).

Song Freaks - is not behaving, but the site/service is still there.

                Suggestions for addition
Seesu - http://seesu.me (I love this streaming site)
Use this URL for the app http://seesu.me/o (Beta page http://seesu.me/obeta)

                Music Videos Wizard - http://musicvideoswiz.com
Use your Last.fm ID for quick access to your library, eg.

                      Hello Dr.Flay,

I did not visit Last.fm for many months, so that I don't know, when they have changed the profile layout, but the new profile layout looks terrible. In Firefox and Chrome I have discovered, that I am redirected to YouTube in a new tab or a connection to Spotify is tried...
All music all the time. For musicians and fans and critics and engineers and audiophiles and for anyone who's ever wanted to make a loud noise by strumming, blowing or hitting something.

If I click on Your link, then I get the following:
                      What's new — Last.fm
The world's largest online music service. Listen online, find out more about your favourite artists, and get music recommendations, only at Last.fm

In my user-profile I have written 2 new comments, after I have lost all my links and all my blogs...
Höre Musik aus der Musiksammlung von SabineKlare (9.774 Titel wiedergegeben). Top-Künstler von SabineKlare: The Timewriter, Vytis, Frank Klare. Hol dir dein eigenes Musikprofil bei Last.fm, der größten sozialen Musikplattform der Welt.

"Du siehst eine Betaversion der neuen Last.fm-Website. Sag uns deine Meinung" = "You see a beta version of the new Last.fm site . Have your say"... Yes, that I don't like such surprises very much. Now I cannot use Last.fm as my main startpage anymore. In hearthis.at I have already changed my profile-description and added 2 further links, but I have still left the old link.

I am very glad, that we ourselves can decide now, what we want to add as online service, and I am sure, You will find some more sites...

I have stopped by in this thread again now, and it is very interesting to see, that there are links as http and as https. I hope, that both kinds of links will work.

And I wish to know, if the manually added online services will also work, if Adobe Flash Player is not installed on the computer. I had made some replies in another thread and I had made some tests in Firefox on computers, which are possibly without this "plugin". I was able to play the music only on some of the music websites. On some other music websites the player didn't work.

I think, this question could be important also for the other fans of Winamp...

Winamp is fine with HTTPS addresses.
It uses the components of Internet Explorer to display web content.
If the page will not work in IE, it will not work in the Winamp browser.
Any sites that use flash or other plugin will still need it.

The music services I have pasted here do not integrate with Winamp properly, because they do not use the Winamp API.
They are just the most convenient streaming sites I found that functioned.
Some do offer direct links or playlists so you can use play them in Winamp properly.

I should look for others that use playlist files, or have direct links to the files.
These will be automatically opened by Winamp if it is set to handle them.
Mostly it is radio streams that use playlist files
                              eg. http://www.totalrock.com/live.m3u

Last.fm may become useful again, but for now I am sticking with Seesu.me.
This can at least create m3u playlists for use in Winamp
