Why 20 posts?

Wondering why I have to make 20 posts before I can edit my own profile. I just joined and logged in for the first time using my id and password. The welcome message said I could edit my profile. When I arrived at the place to edit my profile, I tried and got a message saying I did not have privileges to do this. What do I do now?

Spammers put spam links in their profiles. Requiring a number of posts before allowing such profile changes prevents spammers from being able to do this without considerable effort. You can still use the forums and post freely.

how hard would it be to post 20 times? lol

Yeah agreed, about only way you can prevent massive amounts of spammers.
