  • BUG: Main Window disapearance

Let me explain the status and sequence of what i've done

    Before the bug appears:
    - Standard skins
    - Playlist is showed
    - No icon in sytray nor taskbar, only the icon of the agent

    What i'm doing:
    - I minimize winamp
    - Then i close Winamp (in the rightclic menu of the agent)
    - I restart Winamp

    The Bug:
    - Only the Playlist is showed, the main window isn't displayed, however i feel the snaping system
    - However in the right click menu the main window is checked as the playlist window, and uncheck/recheck ing don't changes anything

    The bug continues
    - Then i switch to other standard skins, but the main window is still invisible
    - When i swith to *any* FreeForm skin, the main window is still invisible, through checked. And on some skins the playlist is problematic, on MMD3 the playlist became also invisible, on Modern the playlist is totally black (impossible to select any title).
    - however after this if i uncheck/recheck the windows appear

    The Bug still continues
    - still after all this sequence, when finally the modern (or MMD3, maybe other freeform skin) skin is correctly displayed
    - if i click on the main window to minimize then winamp dosn't minimize at all, but it displays in the bottom-left corner a portion of the standard skin main window
    - and if i reselect any standard skin, this portion comes at the right place, but this is still a small portion of the main window, and the snap system is screwed up depending on the move of the the playlist or the main window

I hope I was clear and precise enough

I haven't done any screenshot, but i can do some if they are wabted or needed

Can reproduce here. I noticed this a while back and put it down to my system.

Just click on the Winamp button in the task bar to get it back.

I think the playlist is appearing when it shouldn't, rather than the main window not showing up.

Do you have any third party plug-ins? I have had a very similar problem. After reading your post, I trace it down to the NT Pitch DSP/Effect plug-in.
Please do not PM me for tech support. Any request for tech support through PM will be ignored.

strange never noticed when you click again on the agent icon thet the main window finally appear.
But i also noticed this, if i'm not wrong i remeber a similar bug on the unoficial 2.92 and the following versions.

All plugins are from the nullsoft installer, exept
        - AudioCoding MPEG4 General AudiPlayer 1.2 beta
        - Valex AC3 decoder v0.5b
        - VQF Plugin v0.91

        - Smoke 1.04
        - Keyboard Lights 2

but i really don't think this bug was caused by any plugin

          Win2K. Winamp 5 RC8. No 3rd party plugins.

            You think correctly sir.
I've reported this bug at least 5 times.
The bug still exists in Winamp 5 rc8

            1. Classic skin with main, pledit, ml, eq, vid windows open & docked.
            2. Doesn't matter if Winamp is set to show in Systray or Taskbar (or none if using Agent)
            3. Minimize Winamp
            4. Right click icon -> close
            5. Restart Winamp

See how the library and eq windows briefly appear,
then they minimize to the tray
and then the playlist and video windows erroneously maximize & appear.

The bug is that if Winamp is closed in a minimized state,
then it should still be minimized when reopened - applies to all windows.

So, basically, all you do is click the taskbar/tray icon,
and then Winamp maximizes and all is well.
It's just that the playlist window was already (erroneously) maximized...

If it bothers you that much, either close the playlist window before closing winamp
(right click icon -> uncheck "playlist", right click icon -> close), or maximize winamp before closing it.

Well, your system is more than powerful enough to run modern skins in Winamp 5
so you'll never even see the bug...
unless you prefer classic skins or something?

sure, even if i really like the modern skni, i still love some old standard skin, especially an old one from fli7e named pixelifier, or even beacon. For i like the spectrum anlyzer fire effect etc...

anyway a bug is bug, and must be hunted till it's corrected

Yeah, I'm sure the extra spectrum/oscilloscope options will eventually be implemented in the modern skin for v5.02 or later release... (edit: umm, yeah, much later, heh)

And yes, a bug is a bug . . . so let's hope it does get fixed.
Like I said, I've reported it to the devs on countless occasions...
but hey, who am I anyway?

                            nor rc11 (not public)

I've a sneaky feeling that priority for 5.0 release is being given to modern skin related bugs...
