  • How can I display *.srt subtitle files?

    Hi,

is it possible to display subtitle files in *.srt format? If yes, how? I didn't find any option for that in winamp. Or do I have to rename the file (it works in other players [Media Player and BSPlayer], the subtitle file has exactly the same name as the video except for the extension which is SRT, the video is AVI). The format is like this:

    36
    00:22:26,420 --> 00:22:29,537
    THE END

(the first number is incremented by 1 for each subtitle, an empty line indicates the beginning of the next data set)

I hope it is possible to use these files with winamp.

Arne, currently Winamp does not support *.srt files in video playback. It is an official 5.x wish, documented here: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....threadid=64975.

You might want to check this page out, which has several video plugins worth trying out, although I will not confirm the support of *.srt files with any of them. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the quick answer! I hope that support for srt files will be added soon, as I can't see another possibility. I have been looking for srt plugins on google but couldn't find any, either :-(
So I think I'll have to use BSPlayer until this feature has been included in Winamp, hopefully already in the next version ;-).

Another question: I have found the fullscreen plugin in the thread you mentioned. That works perfectly great (I use winamp one one screen and the video window on another one), but is there also a plugin that closes the video window if an audio file is played (the video window isn't closed if winamp is exited while video is still playing)?

Arne, there is such an option in the Video tab in Preferences: Close the video window after video playback ends. If you don't see this option, download the current Winamp version http://download.nullsoft.com/winamp/...mp503_full.exe checking the install boxes for AVI/MPG/WMV and NSV. Good luck!

I already have these options activated and I am already using 5.03, but it still don't work. It works if I open the MP3 file while a video is playing, but if I close winamp while video is playing and then reopen it through opening an MP3 file in Windows Explorer, the video window is still active.

            This is my video setup:

            code:

[X] display the video window when video playback begins
[X] close the video window after video playback ends
[X] stop playback when video window is closed
[ ] resize video window to fit video
[X] disable windows screensaver when playing video

            [X] remove fullscreen on stop
[x] enable OSD when in fullscreen mode

            [X] lock video aspect ratio
[ ] My screen has an aspect ratio of [4]:[3]
            [X] allow hardware video overlay
            [X] allow YV12 overlay mode
[X] synchronize video to screen refresh rate

            Any more ideas?

Same here. Sorry, to only thing I can suggest is push stop before closing Winamp.
