The blue screen with WinXP is usually a sign of faulty drivers. Have you tried updating the sound and display/video drivers?

What is your sound card? Do you remember the error message from the blue screen. Among the information requested in the specs link was a HiJack This log. The propose behind the HjT log, is that it will allow us to see if there is malware or some other misbehaving app that is causing the problem...
Download Hijack This from the systems specs link or use this direct download link. After downloading HjT it will be ready to run. Run HjT and press the 'Scan' button. After scanning the button will change to a 'Save log' button. Save the report as a text file by giving it a txt extension instead of log. Example: HijackThis.txt. Please do not use the 'fix' button. Then attach the HjT log with your next reply.

Hi, I'm looking at your log now. Off the bat, I think I see CWS. I will look at the rest and post back to you what you need to do to fix it.

Apparently SuperWebSearch is a CWS variant. Try CWShredder, available here...

It has been a busy day for me, so I have not had a chance to fully look at your HjT log. Maybe some time later tonight (maybe). Anyone else?

I have to apologize but I simply won't be able to get to this until tomorrow. I'll still do it tomorrow, but I have an AP chem lab that is already a day late and needs to be done tonight.

                  @ Svendib

I spent some time looking at the HjT log. Other than the CWS browser hijacker I could not find anything else that would warrant any great concern. However, someone else may recognize something else that I am not aware of.

If you play the AVIs in other media players do you get any errors or problems? When you said “blue screen”, did you mean the video screen/window turns blue or you get a stop message (BSOD)?

If you are getting a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death), called Stop Messages in WinXP, this looks like more of a general computer tech problem than a Winamp problem. Which goes beyond the scope of these forums. However as stated above, I do suggest to update your sound and video/display drivers.
