  • audio just stopped for no apparent reason.

i have been using winamp for ages and not had any problems with it, in fact i like it so much its always the first thing to be installed whenever i reformat my pc. But yesterday it went a little strange, the audio just stopped, went totaly dead. I have no idea why, i have the latest version of winamp and have been using it since it came out, i have changed any hardware or even software recently. it was just in the middle of playing a tracka nd the audio died. I can hear audio from other programes and from windows but not winamp. i have no idea at all whats up with it. i have tried everything apart from reinstalling winamp itself, i really want to avoid that (its taken me ages to get my media library in a decent order and i dont wann have to go through it again!)

any help would be really great cos im stummped here. thanks.

Tried everything”, what have you tried? The following is a "boilerplate" response, so you may have already tried some of them. One or more of the following...

Still, still no luck? Please post a reply with system specs. Do you have any third party Winamp plug-ins?

Did you mean you did not change any software or hardware?

      thanks for the quick response.

do you ever get the feeling that you are perhaps the dumbest person in the world, i do, i found out the problem. The volume was turned right down on winamp a highly technical problem i know lol. it was just confusing because it went off during a track while winamp was in the background, i didnt chnge the volume it just turned off on its own. anyway, thanks a lot for pointing out the obvious, i needed it lol.

        You're welcome.

Don't feel bad, it happens to the best of us. Chances are Winamp's mute button was accidentally hit.
