I am finally at my wit's end, I have two computers with almost identical resources, Winamp is fine on one and plays my mp3 library with lots of noise on the other. On the problem computer, the files run fine in WMP, Real, and MusicMatch, so the files are fine. I sent you one file via sendspace.com, it ran fine for you. I sent you all kinds of other information, you guys really tried to help.
I did get a good install without associating file types. My mp3's ran fine. I went back and re-installed with file types associated, and again the mp3's were a mess.
The only material difference between the computers is that not all the same hotfixes came to each computer on Microsoft updates.
So, are there any known conflicts with any hotfixes? I searched forums for this subject before posting here.
