  • Winamp & Opera

    I know this isnt the Opera Forums. Ive already posted there too, with no luck!

    I use Opera a main Browser. IE & FF if need be, I ALWAYS listen to www.stickman-radio.com while online. And Ive Always, since I first heard of Winamp many many years ago used Winamp.

    But just today I started having a problem. When I go here http://stations.loudcity.com/364/ to start up Stickman Im getting this

    [playlist]
    numberofentries=1
    File1=http://sc3.purestream1.com:9504
    Length1=-1
    Version=2

    And thats all. Im clicking on the 128 Winamp stream. The very first time this happened was this morning. And a file went to my desktop. It is a Winamp file. It has the lightning bolt on it and says Hi-Band. If I click on it, the stream opens like it should.

    Why is it doing this? Why do I have to go to this desktop file to open the stream in Opera. But no other browser? Why did the file just today decide to go to my desktop instead of the Winamp player and start the stream? Like its always done.

    Any suggestions? Thanks.

    John

    Might want to contact Loud City, as it appears the Low Quality link on www.loudcity.com works fine, but the high quality one on stations.loudcity.com does not.

    The low quality stream sends out the right content-type header:
    Content-Type: audio/x-scpls

    The High Quality one does not...
    Content-Type: application/octet-stream

    Try going to -
    Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Downloads
    Hit the Add button and use the following:
    MIME Type: audio/x-scpls
    Extension: PLS
    Open with default application

    Might need to restart the browser and clear your cache
    Tools > Delete Private Data > Delete)

    [Addition: HAHA, flcoksoft, while that might be true, what if the MIME-Type according to the server is wrong!]

      in Opera (like in almost web browser) you can select for every filetype/mime-type the default action: save, open, etc..

      maybe you switched pls from "open with default application" (Winamp in this case) to save to disk

      if this is your case, go in Opera Preferences\Advanced\Download\, look for pls mime type (audio\x-scpls) (you can utilize also the search box), double click on it and in following screen you can:
      1) switch back to the default behaviour (Show download dialog), or...
      2) select Select with default application radio button

      bye
