hmm... don't you have win98 CD ? try looking for win98 setup dir on your hdd... it seems that you are trying to install default win98 drivers instead of new (downloaded) ones.

Not unless the cab files were actually placed on her hdd will she be able to complete the set-up....if her cousin didn't even know about drivers...i doubt he actually loaded them onto her computer...thus...installation will not be completed...

hmm...let me see...illegal win98 cds??? not at the top of my list but you might want to check this site out for those files if you aren't planning on getting your cd back anytime soon...
