Winamp3 is an old dead project and is completely unsupported. It was also a completely different product than Winamp. Read more about the differences between the Winamp3 and Winamp products HERE.

Uninstall Winamp3 and install the only supported version of Winamp - the current version.

If you have any problems afterwards, then you can post back for help.

Also, have a look at Guide to "sidegrading" from Winamp3 to Winamp 5. It gives some important info about installing WA 5 with a preexisting WA3 installation and also how to use or add various WA3 features in WA 5.

send us a sample so we can verify the files are okay.

I suggest using a site like yousendit for upload.

is this f drive a physical hard drive or is it a flash drive if it is a harddrive you really need to have it checked with a program for errors (scandisk or chkdisk on windows)if you use mac check with them to see what program to use. the file sounds like it is stored on a bad area of the drive (if harddrive may mean the drive is about to die) if you can get the file again i would suggest you do so since <(edit)i doubt there is anyway of recovering the missing parts of the song(sound)
                thanks rob

                    .ASF .wma .mpg

i tried to change the file extension to following .ASF .wma .mpg these extension are playing the song very well.

but .mp3.mp2 .ogg and other formats are not playing.

the file i uploaded is orginally .mp3 format. in my f drive i have some 6GB amount of songs all are mp3 what can i do whether i have to rename all the extension to .asf ant to covert to mp3. or is there any chance to recover with any software. if there is no chance pls tell how to change all the songs extension to .asf in a single time because if i manually change it will talke much time to edit all 6gb songs. pls help me.

and how to clear the virus inside my f drive. if i place the mp3 songs again in f drive will it affect again. wht is the name of virus that causes these kind of damage is there any tool...

                    pls help me

                    thank you

looks like the files were encoded with windows media encoder 11, not any mp3 encoder.

I wouldn't bother converting the files as it will make them sound really bad.

and I'd do all the changes by hand just incase you come across a file which really is an mp3.

the alternative is to rerip all your cd's properly(or do what I do and download them all)

dont know if you will be able to save the music files but you will be able to save your system if you delete the entry in safe mode (run hijack this in safe mode remove the 2 020 entries restart back into safe mode and remove the file from the hard drive (also remember to turn off system restore (2000 and above)and run the disk cleanup manager after doing this)and then return to windows normally if the virus hasnt spread throughout the system it will return to normal(but i doubt you will be able to save the infected music files)) this is the way i found to delete the virus since my system almost became infected with it and remember do not download the file from the flashcodec site

Have you any idea where you got the virus from?
How did it get on the system in the first place?

its a flaw with the file it wants to connect with that internet site and download the file mentioned in the other forum you listed (windows media player connects you to it so there will probably be a security fix(hopefully soon))when it tried to install i had my registry protector warn me but it installed the file anyway at the next reboot but i was able to get rid of it down in safe mode
