  • Context Menu Defaults

    Hi,
    I followed the instructions here:

Read-only forum with answers to the most commonly asked newbie techsupport questions pulled from all the other forums. Check here for basic Winamp support answers before digging into the forums.

to remove the Windows Explorer RT Click Context menu entries for Winamp. There is no APPLY option only close. When I go back the "Show Winamp in Directory context menus in Windows Explorer" is still checked.
How do I get my selection effected?
    Thanks

Whoops, that is another TSGH thread that is in need of updating.

You can have better control of context menu options by...

    1. Winamp > Ctrl+P (for Preferences)
    2. General Preferences > double click File Types to expand the options Tree > Shell Options
    3. uncheck options you don't want.

      Context Menu Defaults

      Thanks for the reply JonnyMac,
I followed your instructions and the context menu options dod not change. I still have Add to bookmarks, Enqueue and Play Attached is a screen shot of file type shell option. How is this applied?
      Thanks

OK, with that screenshot I can now see you are using Vista or Win7…
From the Known Issues section of the Winamp 5.571 Released thread...

-The options in "Prefs -> File Types -> Shell Options" (as added by the JTFE plugin - gen_jumpex.dll) only work on Win7/Vista if Winamp is run in admin mode

will just comment that i'm working on trying to make that page work correctly under a non-admin account (so at least it'll request UAC elevation as needed but is still a few weeks ago for getting the build resolved) so in the mean time Winamp will need to be manually run in admin mode as applicable (which in most cases should just be for install/once when getting things correctly setup).

            Hi,
            Thanks JonnyMac.
I got it to work as administrator. I also had to unckeck "Restore File Applications at WinAmp Startup" in the General Preferences > File Type.
BTY, I do have Vista ultimate 64 bit SP2
            Thank You
