  • DLNA: Playto function available in Winamp?

    Hi,

I like WMP's playto function that was introduced in Win7 very much. It enables me to stream music to my WDTV Live media streaming client. I'm not talking about a media server/client setup, but a media controller/renderer setup. I.e. I want to control the WDTV playback from Winamp and not through the WDTV's remote control.

Is this setup possible in Winamp or with a plugin?

    Thanks
    Ralf

That's exactly what I am looking for, too.

I use my notebook (Win XP) to manage and play music via Winamp. It would be so cool to output the sound on my Popcorn Hour via DLNA. I can do that via a Twonky app on my Android phone why not directly out of Winamp on my PC?

Is there a plugin or external piece of software? Any plans to add that as an official feature? Win7 can do it with Play-to and iTunes can do it with Airplay/Airtunes in combination with Airport devices. I used a software called Airfoil a lot to stream my notebook's sound to my Airports. But I wanna swtich to DLNA, as it is more open (e.g. support for Android devices etc.).

      Thanks for any hint!

      Cheers

How about some extension that plugs into "send to" context menu of winamp and has the same function as the "play to" context menu in the windows explorer? it would use the windows media player's DLNA controller. that playlist is not part of the wmp ui anyways. is something like this available or generally possible?

BUMP. This thread is exactly what I am looking for. I have an Onkyo TX-8050 receiver, and it is absolutely dreadful trying to browse and play music with the player's interface, so WMP's "Play to" function was a great step up from this. Problem is, I'm tired of WMP borking my album art, and besides Winamp loads and plays faster, in my experience. Also, for some reason, WMP loads a separate popup window to play to my receiver, so I can't see lyrics with the lyric plugin. I would love it if I could play directly from my library to my receiver, so I thought maybe Winamp had or could be persuaded to add this functionality.

I'm also using this great dlna-stuff out there, including the onkyo TX-8050!
And I'm searching for exactly the same thing.

I want be able to stream from my winamp directly to my receiver, via DLNA,
like the windows mediaplayer playto-function does this.

Is there any solution out there?
I have tried the on2share plugin and the upnp-plugin, but it dosnt work.
I think these plugins only want connect to the other locations.

What we searching for is a kind of "remote-control" via DLNA.

Hope there will be a solution for this soon.

                  +1

Would be great to have this functionality added to Winamp (for the PRO version maybe?)

Every DLNA server I've looked to work with my Samsung SmartTV has been utter garbage.

I would pay money for WinAMP to have a good DLNA server to browse my video and massive (55,000 tracks, some multi channel) lossless music collection.

did u guys try squeezebox server? it has dlna/upnp built in, and if that doesn't work you can try the whitebear plugin.
