  • Global Hotkey for Visualization buttons

    Hello,
When you open the Visualization Tab in Winamp you see 3 buttons for
go Fullscreen / Previous Visual / Next visual

is it possible to specify a global hotkey for these actions?

without fully checking (so i could be wrong), i believe there is the means to make a plug-in which adds 3 extra hotkey actions for those vis options, but it's not something which is natively provided.

also it can take up to a few days for people to reply assuming they do know about it (as i'd have probably replied sooner but not being on the internet makes that otherwise tricky).

        Ok, Sorry for my impatience...
        I Found this hotkey Plugins:

but none of them offer more actions than the default
(start/stop plugin and launch prefernces) ones which are already
        natively available.

        I Found out, that
        in Milkdrop pressing
spacebar: will go to next Vizualisation
Alt+Enter: will enter Fullscreen (I Think this is a Windows Hotkey)
        B: shows Song Title

        In AVS:
Spacebar: will go to next Vizualisation
Alt+Enter will enter Fullscreen (I Think this is a Windows Hotkey)

        in Morphyre:
Spacebar: will go to next Vizualisation
        F: will enter Fullscreen

all Visualization Plugins are reacting to the Buttons shown above.
but what makes me wonder is, that the Shortcut Keys are different,
so it seems every plugin provides them by their own, but then it seems
that the Buttons shown above send some sort of Command to the Plugin?
as they all react to the Actions. Hope there is a Solution for this.

        Kind regards Ravermeister

firstly, not every vis plug-in out there will even support those actions as they are 5.x specific and with all of the older vis plug-ins or people just not being bothered they don't support everything that should be done.

secondly, most plug-ins will use their own shortcuts, some do tend to use the same Milkdrop style setup for some of the common actions but that is never guaranteed.

thirdly, those 3rd party hotkey plug-ins are just doing the same as the native plug-in does with just creating a hotkey for the first 2 menu items under the visualisation menu on the main right-click menu.

as for a solution, i've now had a check and i was right in that it's possible for someone to use the hotkey api provided by the official plug-in to add those additional options though it could also be added natively as well. in either case you'd need to find someone with the time to code up a solution for you.

ok, as an update (and whilst i'm waiting for something to finish), i've added in support to the native hotkeys plug-in to do next preset, previous preset, random preset and toggle fullscreen (as well as fixing up the options for opening the Winamp vis prefs page and to open the vis plug-ins config if present).

have attached a screenshot of the vis options which will be available. i've not added ones for the menu / config buttons since it causes the menu to appear where the mouse is / doesn't make much sense for opening editing options external of Winamp being the active program.

have tested against Milkdrop which i know does things correctly in Bento, Winamp Modern and a classic and it worked ok. you'll now just need to wait for the next Winamp release - i've no eta on when that might be.

              Hi DrO,

just because I saw you had a look into the Global Hotkeys plugin, I'll ask for one related thing: It's about a Global Hotkey for toggling the "manual playlist advance" on or off.

I have opened a separate thread some hours ago in the Wishlist. But now as I saw you had been posting in a similar thread here, I just have to link it here so you maybe can include this in the next release "in one go"...

Do you have a great idea about Winamp? Let us know and maybe your features will be in the next release!

Many thanks for looking into this!!

              Best regards,

added though there already was the bento / modern skin equivalent option via http://nunzioweb.com/daz/3mode.html for toggling between the modes. additionally, Shift+R has been able to toggle the option on / off though only with Winamp's focus.
