  • Library Duplicates due to iTunes folder

I just installed WinAmp and told it to add the contents of "My Music" to the WinAmp library.

However, since iTunes installed itself in the "MyMusic" folder, it also pulled my existing content from "MyMusic" and converted it into it's own iTunes library, so, I now have a mass of duplicates.

Is there anyway to (easily) remove just the "iTunes" subfolder contents from WinAmp's library?

If not, is there any way to remove everything from the WinAmp library and start over?

When I do, is there any way to exclude the iTunes subfolder from the "MyMusic" folder when creating the library, or, do I have to manually add each folder in MyMusic except the iTunes folder?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

    to remove everything...

Preferences -> Media Library -> Local Media -> Options Tab -> click 'Clear Media Library'
    or
load the root 'Local Media' view, select all and then delete will clear them out.

      'Clear Media Library'
Thanks... I must have looked at that tab five times and never "saw" it.

load the root 'Local Media' view, select all and then delete will clear them out.
      I did eventually discover that.

      Many thanks,

imo, the right thing to do, is when you first import into itunes, make sure you first tell itunes via its options to NOT copy and or move the files you are importing, so that way it just uses the files as they are, where they are.

Agreed... except that in this case (and I assume many others) iTunes was installed using it's defaults years prior to installing winamp.

imho, the best solution would be for winamp to offer the ability to "uncheck" individual subfolders during the library folder selection process.

As it is, the only apparent solution is to individually go through the add folder process for each of the almost hundred folders that I want rather than unchecking one folder.

          Thanks for the responses,
