  • Expand Media Library

    Hi,
When I open Winamp the media library displays as a very thin line. I have a great deal of difficulty expanding it. When I finally achieve the expansion, the minimize and maximize works OK.
I close Winamp expecting the next open to present media library as it was when I closed. It does not. It comes back as the very thin line.
I don't want this constant struggle. How do I save with media library expanded?
I have Winamp Pro V5.63 and I am using the classic skin.

    Hi Frank C,

Are you sure you don't have the media library window set to windowshade mode? What happens if you switch to another skin (like Winamp Modern), adjust things, and switch back to the Classic?

Normally I would suggest you try the latest stable version 5.64.3418 or beta 5.7.3435, but since 5.65 is due to be released very soon, I suggest you wait for that.

      Thanks for the response Aminifu,
Window shade mode sounds like the problem
I can't find window shade mode in library preferences. Can you tell me how to find it?
I can try another skin. I am comfortable with Classic and I don't want to spend the time learning a new process.

sounds more like there's a config issue as the winshade setting should be remembered between sessions unless you've other issues with your install which prevent things from being saved.

the option to disable winshade for classic skins is on jump to file - extras preference page if I remember correctly (cannot check for certain at the moment). if not there's a winshade section in winamp.ini which can be removed which may help as well (though it doesn't explain the setting saving issue).

I probably would say to give the 5.7 beta a go since its the release candidate for 5.65.

          Thanks Dr. O,
          I found the option here:
Winamp Preferences > Jump to File > Extras > Miscellaneous Features > Un-check Enable windowshade node for classic skin frame windows.
The larger problem was my misunderstanding of windowshade. I thought the small dash like mark next to the square in the upper right was minimize (dash) and maximize (square). When I used these controls properly I had no more problems with saving and restoring the appearance from close to the next open. I will try Winamp with the windowshade disabled.

            Hi Frank C,

Do you have tooltips turned on? They can help with identifying what things are when you point at them. Look in General Preferences - Skins - Classic Skins - Classic Skin Options.

              Thanks Aminifu,
Turning on tool tips helps a lot.
I also negated windowshade on the Winamp library.
