  • android app not reading m3u8 playlists

Hi. I use both n7player and winamp on my phone and my library management MOSTLY on my PC, however recently I created a couple of playlists on n7player which saves them as m3u8's. Now I want to sync those playlists to my PC. Winamp on the droid see's them but shows them as empty. n7player shows they are fine. Winamp on the PC doesn't see them at all (or I'm trying to sync incorrectly, but anyway, even if it sync'd, I'm thinking it would come up empty on the PC anyway). Any suggestions?

    Hi,

Details are important. Which phone (brand & model), which versions of Winamp, and which version of Windows? What version of n7player and any other info you think may cut down on the back and forth questions needed to determine what may be going on.

Playlists are just text files. Some phones can read a m3u8 playlist, but do not like the extension. Changing it from m3u8 to m3u works on those phones.

When you installed Winamp on the desktop, did you register it to read m3u8 playlists?

Exactly what your problem turns out to be depends on the details. You can use Koopa's Winamp Info Tool v4.2 beta (link below) to make a extended (detailed) report of your Winamp desktop configuration.

What is Winamp? Why is Winamp? How is Winamp? All these burning questions and issues discussed within.

      Hi Aminifu,

Thanx for the response. While I was waiting I plinked around and realized that indeed they are text files. I think the real problem was that n7player had an odd format for the file location (for example forward vs back slashes.. odd). Once I fixed that by replace/all, everything clicked.

Anyway, thanx again.. The "duh" moment for me was that these were simple text files that I could easily debug and edit. Once I got that right, then all was good.

      Thanx again!
