  • Win10 Using multimedia keys to launch winamp

    Hi,

I'm sitting on Win10 and I am trying to figure out how to make the multimedia keys work fully with WinAmp. The problem I've run into and have been unable to solve is that the first time i use the MM keys they will always launch WMP, and not winamp. Once WMP and winamp are running, all the commands work as they should on winamp. How do I set it such that the MM keys will always launch winamp and never WMP.

    I have tried:
-uninstalling (disabling) WMP, caused all functionality with the MM keys to disappear (not registered with any media player anymore)
-setting .cda files to default to winamp, no difference
    -resetting/reinstalling winamp

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for responding, but that doesn't work on Win10. Disabling WMP removes all MM key functionality (pressing them doesn't even register if i try to set hotkeys). Tried to disable and reenable the mm support, no difference

Is it a Microsoft keyboard? If yes, I would not wonder why you cannot use these additional multimedia keys with other programs. And if it is not from Microsoft, so I have to apologize but I would not know how to help you since I do not have any keyboards here - just two laptops.

Maybe you could contact those guys who have working multimedia keys on their keyboards from the posts I pointed to. Give it a try.

Thanks again for responding. It's a QPAD MK85 keyboard, so I'll try talking to those guys you linked to.

          Thanks for the help!
