  • One FLAC file not playing properly on WinAmp 5.666

A very strange thing is happening on my WinAmp Application. I created a new Playlist of a Mozart composition And it sounds weird on WinAmp while other items in all other Playlists play correctly. First I thought that the Flac files in this new Playlist were corrupted but when I played them on other players they sounded perfect.

I have tried every possible way I know to play these file properly on WinAmp but for deleting and reinstalling WinAmp but to no avail. Could a Forum Member please help me to correct this behaviour?. Such a thing has happened first time in WinAmp since I am using it for over a decade.

Yes MrSinatra, I can try. But one more point. I converted one file to .wav. The converted file too does not play properly in WinAmp but plays perfectly with Daum Potplayer and Microsoft Go.
Here is the link - https://*****************/gold/files_list.php - to the file Flac.zip which is 126.45 mB in size and from where you can access it to download by right-clicking it. The contained music in the file is multichannel.

I am sending the link again. It is https://*****************/gold/files_list.php and I don't why a part of it got converted into asterisk during preview.

The asterisked portion is "depositfiles dot com"

If this is multichannel, maybe there is the problem, I created a flac file with six channel and was the same problem. So I use ffsox plugin, and used the option in audio section to force to stereo.

Thank you so much. The plug in that you suggested worked like a charm. I had to delete the in_flac.dll for the ffsox plugin to work. This plug in however does not work with a few normal .flac files. I wonder why? Thank you so much once more.

so is the file that doesn't work multi channel?

are you downmixing to stereo with the new plugin? (and if so, maybe thats whats borking the "normal" FLACs)

b/c afaik, winamp does work with multichannel FLACs. i think the problem must be more specific than that.

i wonder what would happen if these files were transcoded to ALAC?

I thought there was an option in the Winamp preferences to enable/disable multi-channel audio.

Put in_flac back in and then uncheck that box.
If unchecking that box doesn't work then it looks like it means that in_flac is not paying attention to that global config option available in the internal Winamp API and should be reported as a bug in in_flac.

i was also thinking about that, and what different output plugins are being used and when?

Did you find a bug in Winamp? Can you reproduce it? Let us know, we'll try to fix it as soon as possible!

                    related? 24 bit issues?

Well, there are multiple possibilities coming from three different areas, two require each other for the error. 1) In_Flac providing multi-channel when told not to + Output Soundcard doesn't support the supplied multi-channel audio, at least through the output API used (ie, whether it's MME or DirectX or something else.) Or 2) In_Flac is bugged handling a particular multi-channel signal. Or 3) The output plugin itself being used is FUBAR with the incoming multi-channel audio.

Any number of third-party output plugins could be being used and the OP hasn't been instructed to provide a list of installed plugins yet either. But I've opted to trouble shoot down to what I believe to be the most likely scenario.

No, I did not. However, right above the check box for enabling surround sound is another checkbox for enabling 24bit. So even if it's 24bit being the problem, the solution is similar, uncheck the appropriate box.

I had converted a few files to Alac and they work fine. But the size of Alac files is only 20% to 30% of the original multi-channel files which means that Alac files lose their multi-channel quality.
