I hope that those writing the new version would consider a way to direct interface Winamp to the latest stereo and home theater equipment. Almost all accept USB audio sources.
A computer may or may not have a sound card in it. If it doesn't, a usb port on the computer can accept a usb powered sound card, which then in turn can feed a stereo via the stereo's analog or digital inputs.
This is different than having winamp somehow feed a usb input on a stereo.
I am not familiar enough with how stereos use any usb inputs they may have, but I wouldn't do that anyway.
I would use a laptop or silent pc to feed a stereo my audio via hdmi or fiber optic cable.
I have lots of DAC's but was wondering what the USB inputs on most new equipment is looking for? A file?
I also have WA running on Windows 7 in the office and am wondering how I can get it digitally to my W7 machine that is part of my HT. Else I will have to install WA and my library in a second machine.
Winamp defaults to whatever windows has decided is the default output.
It will output to whatever lists as a valid standard output via the direct sound, wave out or WASPI plugins.
Which ever plugin you are using, change the preferred output to the one you want if it is not automatically used.
