Backup old configuration before update?

Hello,

I've had version 5.6.6 on my laptop for several years. I had some difficulty tweaking the app to the point I was satisfied. Configuring Winamp has always been something of a mystery to me, so I guess/use trial&error/read the menu to get an idea of what to use to get what I want.
I've gotten notice of the new release, but would like to preserve my old installation, especially the settings, for possible use elsewhere, in the future, maybe on an older computer.
Do the old settings remain in place after an update?

imo, yes they do. u can also use koopas backup tool first.
