Winamp won't play through external audio interface

Winamp 5.9 user here. I use Native Instruments Komplete Audio 2 audio interface for production. This soundcard has a 3,5" stereo out which i connect to my speakers.

All works in Ableton Live
All works in VLC player & internet
But Winamp wont play. If i select Komplete Audio 2 as output in Winamp preferences, it's just silence. I choose an integrated device (Conexant ISST) and connect the speakers to my laptop, i can get audio out from Winamp.

So where lies the problem? I prefer to switching these outputs all the time.

1. Open Winamp

2. Press: ALT + S

3. Go to "Output"

4. On "Nullsoft DirectSound Output v2.82", click on "Configure"-button below and see if you can change the output right below where it says "Device".

- I selected my external card Komplete Audio 2 from the list and i see that it is "playing" but i don't hear any audio. VLC player (not my first preference) just works out of the box.

- I then downloaded the updated driver from Native Instruments website. Install complete. I relaunch Winamp, select my card from the list and.... no audio.

The issue remains

that's okay, this Winamp user for the past 20 years is now switching to Resonic Player. That thing works and has sound

with Native , you get audio with Winamp but not with your komplete audio 2 from Native.
it looks like it won't play nice with Winamp
