Can not create direct sound?

Hi,

When I try to use the direct sound plug in a window pop up with the message "Can not create direct sound..."
I have used this direct sound plug in before...

How can I solve this problem?

Help again! I have direct x 8.1. Thanks both of these things worked :
1. Go to Preferences (Ctrl-P) -> Pulgins -> Select "Nullsoft waveOut plug-in..." -> Close.

2. Go to Preferences (Ctrl+P) -> Output -> DirectSound -> Configure
Change the Output Device from the drop down menu to one that best describes your soundcard.

BUT when I close Winamp and run it again the settings were not saved, sorry about this guys

Hmmm, make sure the file named Winamp.ini in your Winamp root directory, which usually is at C:\Program Files\Winamp is not set as read-only. Locate the Winamp.ini configuration file, then right click on the file and select Properties from the menu. That should open up a new window, in where you can set the file's attributes. Now make sure the flag which says read-only is unchecked. That should do the trick .
