  • Order of songs in folder

When burning a CD, I assemble all the songs in a common folder. Next, because there's always a difference in the sound level from song to song, I arrange the songs in order, from the loudest to the quietest. Windows keeps them in alphabetical order, so in order to defeat that, I rename them as a, b, c, d, etc., with 'a' being the loudest.
At this point, I 'Select All' and play them in Winamp for a preview. Winamp, however, doesn't respect the alphabet and puts the songs in its own order, not mine. Why is that?

Up to now, I have been selecting the songs one at a time, and in order, and clicking on "Enqueue in Winamp." That's time consuming, though, and generally goes against my grain. Is there a way to get Winamp to keep them in the same order as they are in the folder?

In Winamp: press CTRL + P, goto "Options" and check the option "Sort files on load". That should fix it.

I tried that, Kaboon, but it made no difference.

        Known problem
Windows sends files to Winamp according to FAT32 allocation (date created), and for some weird reason, Winamp doesn't sort them by filename on opening.

        The workarounds:
        1) Playlist -> Misc button -> sort -> sort by filename.
        2) Use Add button -> Add dir (or add file), instead of using Explorer.

        2) Some people are complaining that Winamp isn't sorting the playlist properly when using drag+drop dir, or "dir context menus", regardless of the settings in Prefs -> Options (Sort files on load/read titles on load).
Apparently it only works properly when using the Add Files/Dir button.
This way the files are automatically ordered by filename (as intended), whereas with the other methods they seem to be ordered by FAT32 allocation or date created instead.
Possibly a Windows related bug, not sure?

The Add button is exactly what I was looking for, DJEgg, and I thank you very much.

Thanks as well. Helped me figure out how to sort my playlists out via title instead of having them scattered all around.
            Cheers
