  • WINXP sound quality is BAD!!

I have a Duron 1.0ghz with 512 megs of ram and winxp. Every .mp3 file that a play, the song always cracks, like the encoder that was used is not compatible with winamp. I looked everywhere to try to find an answer to this, but it seems am the only one who has this problem. My sound card is integrated into my Elitegroup motherboard (not the best ) but it works, playing games in fine, just playing mp3 files in winamp is where i get this skipping, crackling sound

    Please help thanks

And do MP3's sound as bad in all other players?
Or is it just when they're played in Winamp?

No it's bad as well with windows media player, but it seems its worse with winamp. I use Sonar XL 2.0 to record music, and when a import .mp3 files into that prgram it sounds great????

      Not sure why???

All I can suggest is that you either look for an updated driver/codec for your onboard sound chip at the motherboard manufacturer's website, or you invest in a proper PCI soundcard.
