  • automatic change of preset according to the GENRE

one of the most annoying things is to change each time the preset yourself

i think that it will be much better if the there will be automatic change of the preset when loading different kind of music

according to the genre the preset will change

    plz do it.

hopefully that will fit with what you need (if there's no match between the genre in the file and that in winamp's preset file you can have it keep the current EQ state or reset to a flat EQ - which is configurable).

OK I am several day late here.

As usual you have done an awesome job DrO. Tested with complete success on MP3, OGG and WMA.

This has been added to the Equalizer Q&A Guide (click).

Hmmmm, Auto EQ settings are not saved. 'Auto EQ mode' and 'Reset to Flat EQ on no genre' are re-enabled upon restarting Winamp, despite being disabled previously.

          No problems otherwise.

give this build a go (altered saving to happen when the settings are changed and not on exit as it was doing).

Odd, issue still occurs. Tested on various installs of Winamp (5.24 clean also Lite - and 5.25 betas - Shared Settings "Old Winamp Behavior"). Occurs with classic and modern skins.

Looked for Auto_EQ entries in Winamp.ini and could not find any.

              Anyone else?

Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2
              DirectX 9.0c
              Dell Dimension 4550
Video NVIDIA GeForce MX 420 (nView disabled)
SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio (Analog Devices, Inc.)
              Pentium 4 2.0GHz
              256MB Ram

This is more of a bug report, than a fix request.

Once again the bearer of bad news, you are probably going to hate me.

Good news - Settings are now saved.

Bad news - The Auto EQ function no longer works. However, reset on no genre does work.

As mentioned before, this is more of a bug report than a fix request. I have Auto EQ as an evaluation. Although I don't use it, it is still a great plug-in answering a wish/feature that has been requested many times. Good job.

give this a go (the function i changed for the settings was needed so that the plugin could know where the winamp.q1 file was - removing that obviously broke things, heh)

yay, i really shouldn't try to multi-task too much, my 286 just can't cope too well with it

can you configure auto-eq for additional equalizer presets that you download from other people or make yourself? (so that you can make equalizer settings for genres that auto-eq doesn't already incorporate)

Yes, if you save it as a default/user preset...
                              1. With a desired preset as the current, press the Presets button.
                              2. Save > Preset...
                              3. Give it a name and press Save.
A couple things to keep in mind, the preset should have the exact name of the genre to be "coordinated" with. Also, if you choose a preset name that is already part of the default/user presets, the older one will be overwritten by the newer one.
