one of the good things about WMP and itunes is that they can be servers, not just players. you can see WMP on a network and use DLNA to access the music, or with itunes, you can buy a little NAS that has an "itunes server" built-in and use your ipod to remote control it. (itunes itself also works like that).
winamp is falling behind with all that. the devs need to create a "remote control" droid app to go along with their droid player. and users need winamp itself to be a server of music, and it would be really smart to develop a stripped down version to use in low powered NAS units the way itunes server already is.
i also believe its high time winamp partnered with a hardware manufacturer and created a network media adapter for playing audio/video on stereos/TVs.
