  • Search for music in library Winamp

    Dear friends.
I would like to say something about searching in the library of Winamp.
That's normally no problem. It goes pretty fast.
But not if you have a big library and you type a long sentence.
    e.g. G:\Winamp\English\Country\Hank Williams - Original Singles Collection, CD03\
Because if you stop typing, Winamp starts searching.
That bothers me, because I was not ready.
I have many songs in my library. More than 150000.
So I have to wait until he has finished searching.
But than it starts all over again if I type an error.
The problem is solved if searching not automatic starts, but wait for "Enter".
That's my wish and that's all folks,
    groeten van ANTON, Holland

    Hi Quibus,

The default search query delay (250 ms) can be changed. That might help somewhat. I don't know what the maximum delay is, but you should be able to increase it to a few seconds. Look in the Winamp Preferences - Media Library - Local Media - Options tab.

      Hi Aminifu

Thank you for your advice! That is the solution, but I see nothing at Options tab to change it. I tried to send an attachement (print screen) but it was not possible. Please tell me what to do.

        Hi Quibus,

Pressing Ctrl + P when Winamp is the active app should open the Winamp Preferences widow. On the left side you should see the Local Media heading under the Media Library heading, after all the General Preferences headings. After selecting Local Media, you should see on the right side the Watch Folders options window or the Options options window. Select the Options options window (if necessary) and you should see 4 groups of options. The Search query delay is the last option in the Advanced Library Preferences group (3rd from the top).

The link below is to the info in the Winamp Preferences guide associated with these options.

If you do not see all the options as described, maybe you did not install all the related plugins when you installed Winamp.

In that case, providing a list of all plugins installed can help diagnose the problem. You can use DrO's One for Nunz plugin (gen_nunzio.dll) to produce a list of all (1st & 3rd party) plugins installed. Link below (look at the bottom of the page).

        Install the plugin, open Winamp,
Go to: Prefs (Ctrl+P) > Plugins > General Purpose > One For Nunz > Config,
Checkmark "Open text file once generated",
        Click "Config" again,
Then click: "Generate all listings (as below)"
When Notepad opens, save the file (via: File menu -> Save As) then copy and post the report.

Thank you for your comment. My English is not so good, but I hope it can solve the problem now. I'll try. So far, thanks again. Greetings, ANTON
